Yeah, what the heck was going on with the refs at the end of the half? That was beyond ridiculous.

Officiating was probably the worst I've seen this year. That's saying a lot since this year has been awful for the refs.

The Patriots are playing so well with a bunch of guys off the street, I'm thinking of making a comeback at the age of 54.

As long as Brady doesn't mind if I stop and rest for a second on a fly pattern.:D

Sprint....stop and rest....resume sprinting...

- Lastly, listening to the radio on the drive in to work today was awesome. 105 The Fan was killing the Ravens and fans who complained about officiating. Merry ******* Christmas.

The Ravens fans at the game were *****ing NON-Fing-STOP about the refs. Had to point out to them the 3 holding calls and two false start calls in ONE series against the Pats. They also were just giggling at me about the PI call in the end zone. Even they knew THAT was a ridiculous call.

So is Josh Kline a find? Lucky game? Did Mankins cover his deficiencies?

He seemed to be blocking Ngata effectively on a good amount of plays.

I think it more had to do with him being more prepared to play. He got right into the middle of the action against Miami. Yesterday he had a full week of practice to prepare. So I think we saw a guy prepared to be the starter.

Re: McCourty and the buttcussion

Devin got knocked the f... out

Man the way he stood up and tried to walk scared a little bit, I know we need to make sure that that 2nd seed don't go to Cinci but I would rest him even if he pass the protocol.

Bad day for McCourty, missed 2 picks, made a wrong tackle and got outplayed by Tavon Wilson the new starter.

McCourty didn't get outplayed by Tavon Wilson. And Wilson isn't the "new starter". Duron Harmon replaced McCourty. Wilson came in on DIME packages to cover the TE..

Thoughts?

-Siliga has taken advantage of his opportunity and earned a starting spot at DT. Hopefully he continues to step up in the playoffs.
-Dennard is CB4 due to health, right?
-Amendola played less than 50% of the snaps, while Dobson played close to 80%.
-RB is as RBBC as ever.

I think the only real mystery heading into the playoffs is how will the WR2/WR3 snaps be distributed between Dobson/Amendola/KT.

Re: Patriot Snap Counts

On the defensive side it shows how much depth we have and how a player on this team needs to be ready to do his job...

Dennard has a bum knee....

Sealver Siliga and Chris Jones have risen to the top at D tackle...

Ryan had 17 snaps last week, this week he had 71.. talk about freaky friday.

Awesome win by one of my fav Pats teams.

My takeaways. Kudo's to Mankins. Big fan of Blount's play and this Ryan kid is a major playmaker.

Re: Patriot Snap Counts

When the Patriots go to a 12 formation (1 RB, 2 TE), then Amendola is the WR that comes out. I think that is not so much an indictment of Amendola than it is simply the reality of how well Edelman is playing, and not wanting to take him off the field.

The other option would be to leave Edelman and Amendola while taking Dobson off when they want to go with two tight ends, but it makes more sense to keep two different type of receivers on the field.

As for Dennard, I would agree that his lack of use has to be injury related. The preference is to keep Arrington inside on the slot receiver, but even if Dennard was healthy I think Arrington would have seen plenty of snaps because Baltimore likes to use either a 21 (2 RB or a RB and a FB) or a 2 TE formation quite often, and it would make sense to have Arrington out there in those situations.

Buffalo uses a run-heavy based offense, so the snap counts we see next week are not necessarily indicative of what the Patriots will utilize in the post-season.

Re: Patriot Snap Counts

Fan A after the loss to the Ravens in the AFCCG last year:

"I know this is a tough loss guys, but don't worry, because next year when we play them, in Baltimore, Julian Edelman will be our #1 Receiver and a 3rd round rookie CB will have the most snaps on defense, and we're going to win 41-7."

Fan B:

"Pass the fricken pipe."

Boy, the Pats knew what they were doing when Welker walked. Everyone thought that Almendola was his replacement when a faster version of Welker was already on the roster. Almendolas production is icing on the cake.

Edelman, needs 9 more yards to 1000 and 4 more receptions to 100.

I can recall threads on here that the good for nothing bum should be cut. :p

Re: Patriot Snap Counts

-Dennard is CB4 due to health, right?

Yeah. Reiss said that he and Fletcher were the two players being watched closely by Gill and Nash in the warm ups.

I think Dennard was active because Bill wanted him in case of emergency.

-Amendola played less than 50% of the snaps, while Dobson played close to 80%.

Wouldn't really read anything into that. Pats ran the ball 34 times and only passed it 26. Amendola played 32 snaps, so with no evidence to support it I'd still say he was on the field for the majority of the pass plays. Dobson's the better blocker.

I think the only real mystery heading into the playoffs is how will the WR2/WR3 snaps be distributed between Dobson/Amendola/KT.

It will probably be predicated on what the opposing defense is doing and how the game is going.

John Harbaugh is the biggest animated HC crybaby in the AFC and his brother Jim leads the NFC.

Johnny had that look of indignation on his face after every penalty like the calls were all bogus and that they did nothing wrong. He didnt have much to say to BB after the game because he was butt hurt over the loss. IIRC, after NE lost the AFCC last year, BB told Johnny to go win it all.

Suck it up you big baby.

Being a gas bag comes with the territory of coaching a team to play over the edge.

So, you would be happy with the Ravens DBs holding all game long.

The Refs sent a message early that they were going to call PI and IC, so either back off or suffer the consequences. The ONLY bad call was on the Edelman deep ball where he fell down and did some acting.

They were bad calls. They were clearly bad calls. They were clearly bad calls that benefitted the Patriots. They were clearly bad calls that benefitted the Patriots and that Patriots fans would have been screaming about if things had been reversed. Always great getting your input though. :thumb:

Re: Patriot Snap Counts

As long as DA stays healthy its fine with me.

I didn't think that the DPI that setup our TD was incorrectly called. Edelman tried to work back to the ball, and Smith, beaten on the play, grabbed him and halted his momentum.

Much like with the Kuechly-Gronk play, the reaction to the call was shaped largely by the announcers not understanding the most basic of physics and incorrectly assuming the receiver couldn't have gotten to the ball based on where he ended up after contact, not based upon where he was headed before it.

That was a terrible call.
