Report: Danny amendola ‘almost certain’ to miss jets game

Per the Patriots, Welker was their #1 target, so they didn't bet on Amendola instead of Welker.

Interesting all off season you were stating that you didn't believe a word the Patriots were saying and now you use the same statements to prove your point? Convenient.

Lloyd is THAT big of a head case that we can't put up with him for another season? At least he is a WR who caught 70 balls in our system last year
Not to confine this observation just to you, but I always love it when someone asks something like, "we can't put up with him for another season?" when the person asking the question is not one of the "we", or people who will actually have to "put up with him."

It was three injuries in four years. It is a lot compared to a majority of the players, but not as bad as say Aquib Talib who no one seems to question his ability to say on the field.

Plenty of people here have questioned Talib's ability to stay on the field. I've done it numerous times in the last couple of weeks myself, specifically related to my concern over the lack of depth at that position.

You're nipping at the wrong ankles here. The Patriots negotiated with Welker first, and reporters, not just the Patriots, stated that the team's first priority was Welker.

I said this in another post. My friend lives in the same building as Chris Simms (who is a pats asst. coach) and what Simms told him was the Welker was pissed at BB and was leaving no matter what.

And you stated you didn't believe them.

...and if my aunt had a penis and a pair of testicles, she'd be my uncle.

I hope you spoke privately with your aunt about this before you shared it with the rest of us.

Aaron Dobson's entry to the NFL, Thomkins and Dobson on the outside, Boyce and Edelman on the inside spread them out.

I took one day for everyone to turn back on the guy who really shouldnt have played the 2nd half on sunday. He is injured. Was injured before the game. ***** happens. Dont know how it is his fault.

I don't think anybody is saying its his fault. he gets hurt all the time. it suks and it doesn't matter whos fault it is or if anybody is at fault. the point is hes hurt again and that blows.

Julian Edelperson as our #1 with a band of unproven rookies. Spread is 13 pts!
I'll take the Jest to cover that all day and then some. This is going to be a close one.
PS, you can bet your azz Edelman will be on IR before the season is over as well. Our 1 and 2 are two injury prone white guys. What a fustercluck. :bricks:

my guess would be that Amendola missed the Jets and Bucs games in order to rest his groin. Once he's back, though, I don't see the point in assuming he'll miss more games. My guess would be that he'll play 14.

It is getting to the point that this is comical.... I don't believe with the current players injured, that this offense is as good as the 2006 offense.

Ridley: Fumble machine
Vereen: Broke wrist
Blount: Not really that good
Bolden: Ditto Blount
Amendola: Broke d!ck
Thompkins: Not ready for the NFL yet
Boyce: Ditto Thompkins
Sudfeld: Ditto Boyce
Hooman: Really? Counting on him?
Edleman: Only bright spot thus far... seeing as he is still healthy for now.

I will say this... I think Washington has a big game for us but it wouldn't surprise me if he did next to nothing too. (I am feeling rather pessimistic today)

Sometimes injuries can make the job easier for backups and rookies in any sport (at any level). When you know you're going to get a legitimate shot and not get pulled at the slightest misstep, you play with more confidence and swagger.

Dobson, Boyce and Thompkins have the opportunity of a life time to demonstrate that they have earned their spots on this team. Let's hope TFB can find a way to make the offense hum with a limited playbook.

Personally, I think Amendola will play against the Jets in a similar third-down role to the second half on Sunday. His presence, even if as a decoy, will draw attention by the Jets' linebackers and DBs.

I also think the Patriots will rush more than pass with Washington taking Vereen's snaps as the third down back and Ridley restricted to first and second downs.

I look for an ugly low-scoring affair that could go either way.

Not that it means much of anything, per Rotoworld:
Danny Amendola was officially "limited" in Tuesday's practice.
That's despite the fact that he wasn't spotted at the Patriots' walkthrough. Looking like a game-time decision, at best, for Thursday's showdown with the Jets, Amendola's status is murky beyond Week 2. Julian Edelman, who scored two touchdowns against the Bills Sunday, will man the slot if Amendola can't go.

I've learned that until the team confirms something you can always take premature reports with a grain of salt. Just like it was claimed Vereen would only miss a "couple" of weeks. Whether he plays or not will be known when the game day inactives are announced. Until then it's speculation at best.

Agreed, but if missing Thursday's game would give him 2 weeks to heal, that may be the better route.

I feel the same way, supafly.

I'd rather he sit this one out and be ready for the 3 week stretch against the Falcons, Bengals, and Saints. That, on paper, looks like the toughest stretch of the season. They're going to need him badly for those battles.

I can see Brady easily putting up a 42 spot on the Rex's defense on Thursday night without Amendola.
