NFL (league wide) roster cuts – players of interest

Hard to believe Josh Cribbs is finished. He was second in total KR and PR yards just last year. Plus, his averages were in the top 2 or 3. So he put up yards and averages, generally not the sign of dude who is cooked, knees or no knees.

How much could he have been hurt? Whatever was wrong with him didn't cut into his production. His top notch output is even more remarkable when you consider how little Cleveland scored last year.

when your main attribute is your shiftyness, and you have a major knee surgery, if you lose that shiftyness you lose everything.

Jameson Konz cut by the Seahawks.

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 8m
True RT @MaioccoCSN: The 49ers are shopping veteran OLB Parys Haralson, sources tell CSN Bay Area .

Is Haralson a good/decent player? Anyone know how he is in coverage?

With Zusevics and Grissom going on the IR, I see the Pats looking for a DT and OT on the waiver wire..

IMO, that should have been the plan even before they went to IR.

Lots of people wanted him in the 1st round as well.. Glad the Pats didn't go there.

How many were our self-deluded Draftniks ever eager to call BB a bum, thus elevating themselves, at least in their own eyes??

Jets released RB Chad Spann and CB Donnie Fletcher

Yeah, Cribbs' knee injury obviously scared a lot of potential suitors off during the period of free agency--us included.

Even his "2nd choice" of ARZ was rumored to have signed him, then suddenly they pulled their offer back and wanted to wait another month or so to see how he was healing. The fact that he has been cut is only one more enormous red flag.

I wouldn't think that too many would be interested in Josh Cribbs, at least at this time. That could change if/when he finally returns to full health of course.

A DT is a definite need on this team; I hope they are able to pick up someone who can play.

OT is less of a need since we have Svitek and Cannon (in a pinch).

Agreed.

A backup OG/OC would be a solid acquisition. We could be waiting for Nick McDonald to be healthy.

Anyone have any thoughts about how many guys Belichick will wind up signing, at least for a look-see? It seems like typical Belichick to want to get intel on some of the guys on the cusp that might be practice squad material.

Assuming he's got a clear idea of who's making the 53 man roster he should have no problem finding space to rotate several players in while the roster remains at 75

I'm waiting for tebow to get cut so we can get him

What was the score with Eric Kettani? Just released by the Redskins. Will there be potential interest in bringing him back to give Develin some competition for the final game?

Exactly what I was thinking. Kettani >>> Develin.

And Spencer Larsen was cut by Tampa.

Offensive Tackles:
Solder
Vollmer
Svitek
Cannon

Offensive Guards:
Mankins
Connolly

Offensive Center:
Wendell
Stankiewitch (is he the answer to the backup question?)

This is another comparison that you seem to think very strongly about and I don't understand why. We haven't seen enough out of either guy to say that either is that much better than the other. I can tell you that Develin has a good amount of size advantage on Kettani, which is something that I think is pretty important if he's actually going to be lead-blocking.

I can pretty much guarantee that Nobody wanted DaRick Rogers in the 1st round.
