Bills might start Jeff Tuel against Pats

Well, I've never even heard of this guy.

I have been a Bills fan my whole life. We have had plenty of tools at quarterback.

LOL

Maybe we should start Ryan Mallet to make the game fair;)

If it happens he'll be the first UDFA to start week one at QB since the merger. That's something.

And we looked at him pre-draft so we'll know something about him at least.

Really, the first? Heh...wouldn't have guessed that.

Why would the Bills give BB heads up on this

I would have kept more of a mystery about it.

He's actually looked pretty good in the preseason.

Smart move by the Bills. The Pats have no book on the guy. He is likely to put up 500 yards vs. the Pats.

We'll win the game while making him look like a 1st rounder.

FWIW, It's not totally clear to me that they've announced Tuel as the starter per se. It seems more like they're saying "we'll proceed for now as if Tuel will be starting, pending Manuel's recovery."

Nobody has any book on this Bills offense. I bet the Pats are studying old Syracuse films to get a sense of what they will see. This is gonig to be a total unknown for the Pats. Don't be suprised if the Bills get out to a lead or at least put some points on the board. This offense is built around misdirection and some tirck plays. The TEs at Syracuse have always done well in this offense.

Before you know it, it will be CJ Spiller starting at QB.......the Bills will run the wildcat the entire game.

Agreed, I'm expecting a shootout. With Gilmore out, though, and Byrd either out or rusty, I still expect the Pats to come out on top.

Patriots had worked out QB Jeff Tuel before the draft. Intel could be part of game-plan prep.

They might not have the book on him but they have a pamphlet.

Call me a dumb idiot who doesn't know anything and should just kill himself and never post again (in that order) but this is one of those situations ripe for a big deal by Tuel.

The Bills have no shortage of talent at the skill positions. But you bring in a guy like Manuel, a surprise first rounder, and there's a lot of pressure for him to perform and I think he'd be more likely to freeze.

Meanwhile you start a guy like Tuel, expectations are low and he goes out feeling loose and lights up our typically lose secondary.

I don't see the Bills winning, still, but this is a recipe for a 'can you believe Tuel got 350 yards' type of day.

Seriously wouldn't be suprised if he has a very good game numbers wise. Still think we'll win but I can see 20+ points from Buffalo

This defense got lit up by Dan Orlovsky and Rex Grossman not too long ago. Vince Young also threw for 400+ yards. Mark Sanchez also had quite a bit of success.

Until the D proves otherwise, no reason to think Tuel can't do it too...

He's an undrafted rookie and the Bills OL isn't that good, just relentlessly blitz him and hit Spiller hard and often, show them who's boss from the start.

If Tuel starts then we are going to see a ton of running and short throws out of the Bills offense. I suspect BB outta be able to figure this one out without much trouble. Stop the Bills running game and make Tuel beat you with the deep, big play pass. Thankfully, the Pats defense is strong versus the run and the combo of Tuel's weak arm and the woeful Bill's OL in pass pro makes this a great matchup for us.
