I don't expect the following to be on the 53 if they cannot play next week.

Fells
Dowling
Armstead
Cunningham

Don't agree about Fells, he's doing very well so far.

I absolutely love this thread title. I also agree with your post.

Dowling could be out. I don't see Armstead getting cut because they are high on his upside. I think Cunningham is gone. Not sure on Fells. He's looked better than last year, but he didn't set the bar real high with last year's performances.

Armstead will be PUPd so we may see him in October

Little harsh on Armstead. Had surgery for an infection is just working his way back.

Fells maybe i'm wrong but the only time he has missed was this week.

Seriously doubt Armstead gets cut. Guy has an infection, most likely staph. Everything I read and heard about him was he is a beast. He imo is a lock for the 53.

Fells is going up against Ballard and Hooman for a spot. I expect 1 of the 5 to get cut.

Cunningham is gone.

Dowling, if he can somehow manage to practice and play in a game, he MIGHT make it.

Saw Reiss compare Dowling to Shawn Crable this week in his chat recap. Just a waste of talent on a guy who can't stay healthy. It's too bad.

I expect Armstead to be on the NFI or on the PUP list. There are levels of recovery. Presuming that he is recovered, he needs time to build strength and get into game condition. I do underestimate his future with us. He is a solid prospect.

I just did a mock 53 on patspicker and surprisingly enough we can keep a lot of good players. Should have room for a deep defensive roster.

Aaaah!

The question is how well you have covered special teams.

Glas-IR at 33 & Tavon Wilson at 48 are inexcusably, unprofessionally awful selections.
The talent still available at those 2 picks is the true waste.

Fells

Cunningham - cut
Dowling - cut
Ebner - cut

Fells - 53 man roster

Armstead - NFI/PUP
Harrison - PUP

Cut down to 75 - offense

Bartholomew - cut
Winn - cut
Landi - cut
Haggerty - cut
Sims - cut

Add Zusevics to the list too...and Ebner, as ATip56 reminded me. Armstead & Harrison to the PUP.

I agree with Fells, Dowling and Cunningham. There is no way they cut Armstead. Pup or Ir until they get a chance to watch him play.

Hindsight is not 20-20, when it is premature.

I certainly agree that Dowling and Cunningham are squarely on the bubble already, which is due to a combination of sub-par play and other factors such as PED suspension (Cunningham) and injury (Dowling).

Let's not lump everyone in to the same category though...different scenarios call for different measures. Fells hasn't earned that poor reputation. He has been the TE1 in Gronk's absence up until about a week ago. Just b/c he is dinged up a bit and missed a week of practice shouldn't mean that he's going to be cut.

Armstead will likely be returning from PUP to give us more depth after the 6th or 7th game in my opinion, and Fells will be needed for our TE depth which currently has Ballard slowly progressing and Sudfeld as a raw rookie; especially if the plan is to bring Gronk back after the 2nd game in NY after the long break. Fells is definitely needed.

FWIW, Armond Armstead had no visible casts or bandages or anything last night.

Optimism???

Dowling will be on his way to Jacksonville in no time.
