Welker:Toward the end in NE, BB got on him in a way he never had before

They never would have gotten to those SB's without Welker playing the way he did. He's one of the best players to ever play for this team and yet the douchebags in this forum take shot after shot at him. I am sure it will be the same for Wilfork and Brady because the truth of the matter is that there is a large contingent of Patriot fans who simply have no appreciation for great players and only look at the shiny new object.

Kenbrell Thompkins > Troy Brown............

Here we go again. If he was truly great, he would have caught the most important passes. That's what greats do, they make the game changing int, they throw the game winning TD, THEY CATCH THE GAME WINNING PASS, but welker couldn't catch the most important pass. Face it, welker was in a position most dream of, in the SB and can win the game by catching the game winning pass. And he failed.

BB can be hard to endure especially on on Monday after good games, we all know this. Heard it from many other players, not sure what the big deal is....

Must get really old and tired having to deal with Belichick's obsession with power/control. It was that obsession that lead to BB sitting Welker during a playoff game because of some lighthearted media banter about feet.
As a player I think I'd much prefer playing for a Harbaugh or a Tomlinson, guys who can coach but also treat their players like men and not 1st graders who need to be timed out.

Mav, I didn't agree with benching Welker during the 2010 divisional round, but you're reading too much into the "power/control" thing, as you put it. BB, around his players, is very much a player's coach sometimes and an authoritarian the other times. That's what professional football players need.

Welker boo ******* hoo. its football, that is what happens. The Pats, BB and Brady made him the player he is today. I thank him for wat he did in a Pats uniform, but he is on the Donkies now so he can go suck a **** for all i care

Ivan's normally a solid poster, but he completely loses his mind the second Welker comes up. Definitely not a troll, this particular topic just sets him off in a weird way. Hard to explain, but it's just one of those things,

Were Ivan to post a picture, we'd see a smokin' brunette with a great rack. I suspect Ivan = Mrs Welker.

And yet...

We've had countless guys who played under Belichick only praise him as a coach and as a person.

If Belichick is such an ogre then why in 13 years have we only heard some mild grumblings from a handful of players? I'm not even sure if the number who have criticized him even ADDS up to a handful (five) -and of those.. most of their complaints are about the cold, business-like approach of the Patriots in how they make their personnel decisions.

From the things his ex-players say about him, I don't think Belichick is the ******* you want to pretend he is.

I didn't say he wasn't a really good player while here, I just would make my proposed trade in NY Giant minute.

As for his new comments in SI Shut up Wes, your tears are not becoming.

I think it's one of those deals where when a hot girl starts to let herself go, all of a sudden all of the other bad habits start to annoy you (even if they existed the whole time). You were able to overlook them before, but now they are magnified.

Think about it, I'm sure Belichick was hard on Welker and singled him out ALL the time, but probably got VERY old and more annoying to Welker when he started losing playing time to Edelman.

It's obvious Wes is trying to soften up the pats before they play the broncos. I am sure he doesn't want to get spanked when we play them.

I'd like to see someone point out a coach who isn't an authoritarian that occasionally grates on players who has had even a fraction of Belichick's success in the modern NFL.

Actually very few former players speak about Belichick with loving reverence.
The commentary is more along the line of talking about a former HS coach or teacher rather than a father figure or someone who taught life lessons. Not saying Belichick is a monster in any way. Am saying he obsesses over control of his players to the point of ridiculous. Has to be so refreshing for a guy like Welker to be in Denver and out from under BB's thumb.

i bet wes really misses being in NE

Maybe the next time Peyton Manning won't throw the Super Bowl clinching pass behind and high to a wide open Wes Welker thus forcing Welker to have to twist, jump backwards and reverse his momentum on a dime so he can catch that really bad pass from an unpressured QB. ;)

Seriously? If your an NFL player and want the ultimate goal, then you choose BB. If BB treated players unfairly, they would not make statements of how different it is here compared to other teams. Richard Seymour did not exactly leave on great terms, yet spoke highly of BB when talking to other players about coming here. Is he a control freak, yep. Next question.

I think we all see Ivan's point but the trumpeting of this "we would have not gotten to the SB or AFCG game without WW" is silly.

The team won 3 superbowls before WW and came within a hair of winning a 4th if not for a D meltdown. So, I dont understand how WW was the reason we got "wherever" when we were kicking butt and winning it all consistently before he arrived.

We were find before WW -- he was a great player for us -- we will be fine after him.

This media crap is just that....crap.

Yeah it's killing him being on a Super Bowl favorite with a HOF QB. Poor guy!

SB favorite means absolutely nothing and he is with a QB that is 9-11 in the post season with 8....8 1 and dones.....soooo?

Of course he won't. He'll throw it right into the welcoming arms of a defender for an INT. And his coach, a guy like your "Tomlinson", will be blamed again. When did Ladanian start coaching?

This is the funniest post I've read in a long time.

Seriously, why don't you put on a Snuggy and listen to a Kenny G album?

Here's a revelation for you - - any player who needs a father figure should get that from his FATHER - - or Uncle, or Clergy or.....

It's the NFL, not an orphanage.

You crack me up. Do you call your boss at work "daddy"?

Wes really needs to shut up. I'm a huge Wes fan- own a jersey and signed gloves from his 15 catch 192 yard game against the Jets; but really he's just being an a-hole at this point. You feel slighted, we get it. Just prove Belichick wrong by having a monster season.

That being said, I doubt he makes it to week 6. Peyton will have him decapitated by then, surely.
