Aaron Hernandez arrested, taken away in handcuffs

Live feed on ESPN just showed several sad looking people in the gallery -- presumably the victim's family. Kind of brought it home in a way that had previously been a bit abstract.

cuffs and shackles. doesn't sound like an obstruction charge is forthcoming to me

It could also be multiple counts of the same charge....

It could be, but I doubt it is six counts of obstructing justice. The fact they did the perp walk instead of allowing him to turn himself in tells me they are going for some heavy charges.

The Patriots were so right to cut him loose. Can you imagine watching all of this if he was still a player???? Impossible to imagine.

Maybe I'm just slow to transition, but I think I'd feel exactly as I do now. This is brutal.

Yea - I doubt that as well....

:(

It's starting.

The rest were weapons charges

Murder. Pleads not guilty.

charged with murder

murder one, my god.

He shows no emotion, very cold.

Premeditated?

Sounds like they have a pretty set theory/evidence of how this all went down.

Innocent until proven guilty of course ... but what the hell. I really feel bad for his kid.

Murder and five weapons charges

horrendous.

Innocent until proven guilty and all that. But I applaud the actions of the football team today in making this decision.

He has asked for bail, so apparently bail is not automatically foreclosed in MA in murder charges as it is in some.

Prosecutor says Hernandez and two others picked up the victim and during the car ride, Hernandez said he couldn't trust him because he had been talking to some others the night before at a bar.

Last text from the victim: "NFL Just so you know."
