Aaron Hernandez arrested, taken away in handcuffs

Where are the "blame the media" fanbots who happily pointed out reporting inaccuracies as if AH was being picked on.

"Facts don't cease to exist because they are ignored".

They're too busy working on Hernandez's legal defense. It's going just as planned so far.

Looks like it is time for me to change the poll on the main page of this web site. Here's the final tally:

Poll Question: Aaron Hernandez will...

1.) Play with the Pats, after serving an NFL suspension - 15%

2.) Play with the Pats, awaiting outcome of current events - 24%

3.) Play in the NFL, but never again with the Patriots - 12%

4.) Never play another down in the NFL - 49%

John Atwater tweets that Hernandez will be in court within an hour.

FWIW, I don't believe the release is indicative of the charges he will receive but rather on the whole that the Patriots organization doesn't wish to be attached to it regardless of the outcome.

Hope you're right. The police have played it pretty close to the vest, so you might be.

Still, you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows right now. At the minimum, the Patriots had the same unsettled and pessimistic feeling the rest of do.

I don't think it has to do with what the charges are, necessarily. A player was arrested in relation to a murder. So they cut him.

Hate to say it...but maybe he is an ordinary street thug?

This. You can take the thug out of the hood but you can't take the hood out of the thug. What a dumb ish.

ESPN's legal guy pretty much going with the theory it's for obstruction and they are trying to pressure him to get info. If the other two guys haven't been arrested, maybe there is something to that?

You mean the people who said we should wait for the facts of the case to come out before jumping to conclusions?

Right here. Why?

There were more than a few who cited premature and /or inaccurate reports as the functional equivalent of proof that AH was either misunderstood or not that bad a guy...

Pointing out the elephant in the room on an internet message board doesn't make one against due process.

Well that sucks. I really liked ahern. Guess I will east crow and many of you were correct he would be gone. Next in line Ballard or sudfeld.

I fear Hernandez not only torpedoed our season, he ruined his career and life.

You're a mult-millionaire playing for a perpetually winning team. You are basically set for life as long as you don't screw yourself over.

Even if he's found innocent on all charges, the fact he even associates with losers like that is completely unacceptable. He should know better than that.

As far as the season goes, let's wait until they actually play some games to see how big of an affect this will have. Hernandez has definitely ruined his career and life, though.

Not only should Hernandez have known better, but his "friends" should have known better too. Hernandez was their passport to things they would never have access to: Hanging around in a million dollar house, going to clubs/parties on his dime, meeting other athletes or celebrities. His friends should have realized that none of that happens without Hernandez and keeping him out of trouble was a priority. At the first hint of trouble, someone should have been in his ear saying "Think about what you could be throwing away" even if that was for completely selfish reasons.

On top of that, none of these "bad influences" or "gang members" apparently had any idea how to cover up a crime: Leave the victim's body within a mile of the house, leave a rental car registered to Hernandez at the scene, destroy electronic devices whose data can be retrieved offsite. I'd hate to think of what plans they rejected before settling on that one.

Bad enough to hang around with criminals. Hanging around with dumb criminals when you're not a genius yourself is, well, we're seeing it unfold now.

You would have thought after the botched shooting in miami earlier this year that he might have gotten rid of his firearms as he obviously couldnt control himself.

What a punk.

What a d1ck.

Hope whatver happens that the Lloyd family get a little justice for the loss of their son.

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's a duck. He should look right at home in prison.

More fun for the NFL:

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 28s
Browns rookie LB Ausar Walcott has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly punching a man outside a NJ bar.

Haven't commented on anything, since I wanted to have the guarantee it wasn't just speculation/rumors, but well, this now makes me feel really sick; Manual on "How to flush down the toilet your promising young career as superstar, Chapter 1".

Thanks to PatsFaninAZ and others for explaining clearly the legal procedings and issues to us non-experts.

For me it's time to close the book on Hernandez and move on.
Hello Mr. Sudfeld!

Because they weren't involved or because they aren't Stars on the New England Patriots? Might have something to do with the media focusing on AHern.
Good grief. Do you think for one second the police would ignore the other two if they had any evidence against them simply because AH is a celeberity and a Patriot?? Come on now.

Would be kind of funny if it was for obstruction and he was judged innocent.

Then the Patriots just released him for no reason.

At this point, I highly doubt he is innocent at all...where there's smoke, there's fire. So in a nutshell, it appears as though Aaron Hernandez went from TE with the Pats to Wide Receiver in Prison! ;-)

At least if Hernandez meets that special guy in prison, he knows the Supreme Court is on his side.

You think the Pats ever do anything without considering the bigger picture? I guarantee you they know what is coming.

Kudos to the organisation, they've acted swiftly and decisively.

What I don't get is why they didn't let him put his arms through the sleeves of his shirt before cuffing him.
There could be a number of reasons for this. One is AH requested it to cover the handcuffs. Who knows. It seems a bit trivial to wonder about considering the seriousness of the situation.
