As of now, are the Pats the #2 seed????

Could the Patriots be the #2 seed right now? With Balt. Den and NE all at 9-3, the tie breaker is head to head sweep and then conference record. NE lost to Balt but beat Den and Den faces Balt in 2 weeks. The next tie breaker is conference record and NE is 8-1, Balt is 8-2, Den 6-2. It could change if Balt beats Den but as of now……the way I read it, the Pats are #2 ......

Nope Baltimore.

Not until Baltimore loses again. Head-to-head tiebreaker. Let's hope RG3 is up to the challenge next week.

Re: As of now, are the Pats the #2 seed????

They got the tiebreaker thanks to the the replacements.

Re: As of now, are the Pats the #2 seed????

That must be a mistake. They still have the tie breaker on us.

Hey Danny - ever thought you're the one that's mistaken bro?

Re: As of now, are the Pats the #2 seed????

Pats are #2 right now, we win the THREE WAY tie with Ravens and Broncos.

Nope, it's a three way tie so that doesn't come into effect

Re: As of now, are the Pats the #2 seed????

Pats win the tiebreaker based on conference record. They have one AFC loss (Ravens), while the Ravens (Steelers, Texans) and Broncos (Pats, Texans) each have two AFC losses.

Re: As of now, are the Pats the #2 seed????

As I understand it, they are the #2 seed because there's a 3 way tie for the spot between Denver, NE, And Bmore. The first tiebreaker is head to head IF one team has swept the others, since Bmore and DEN hasn't played yet this tiebreaker is not applicable. So it goes to the next step which is conference record, which we had.

So we are the 2 seed as of now, but we still don't OFFICIALLY control our own destiny. If Bmore and us win out, Bmore will be the 2 seed because they will have beaten DEN and will therefore get the tiebreaker on head to head matchups. So at the time we have the #2 seed but that is kind of misleading because we still do need help, which we should get.

I thought Pats would be 3rd Seed and Ravens would be 2nd as of now because Ravens beat us head2head. What is 1st tie breaker if tied between Pats/Ravens?

Right. Baltimore is going to have earned that #2 seed if they win out, though. Redskins, Broncos, Giants, Bengals.

Re: As of now, are the Pats the #2 seed????

Yep, that is how ESPN has it right now. The 3 way tiebreak is based on winning conference % after head to head among the 3 teams.

2012 NFL Playoff Standings - National Football League - ESPN

Pats: 3 AFC games left
Baltimore: 2 AFC games left
Denver: 4 AFC games left

If all teams win out (which is not possible as Den plays Baltimore).

Pats 11-1 = .916%
Baltimore = 10-2 = .83%
Denver = 10-2 = .83%

Pats control their own destiny as long as Baltimore doesn't beat Denver.

Once the 3 way tie is broken it goes down to head to head, which we win over Denver, and lose to Ravens.

No, we need Baltimore to lose 1 more and we need Houston to lose 2, and specifically one to us...

Two way ties are head to head. Three way or more ties are conference record.
