Re: Ras-IR-Dowling officially on IR

Disagree. He's not that good. He looked good for like 2 games last year. This year he couldn't even get on the field and was a healthy scratch. On top of that he went to IR last year and now this year. He's gonna be a 3rd year player still in his "rookie" season. This dude is made of glass. He should get one more chance to make the team in TC next year but he doesn't perform cut him.

I'm so tired of all the garbage in the secondary.

McCourty sucks, Dennard looks alright, Arrington sucks, Chung sucks, etc.

God damn it, spend in FA, get SOMEBODY to help this is so ridiculous.

McCourty sucks so bad that he's amongst the team lead in Passes defenses and leads the team in interceptions. Not to mention that he's a solid tackler.

Yes, Arrington has gone backwards since last year. Chung can't stay healthy and is primarily an "In-the-Box" Safety. But that is what we knew about Chung when he was drafted.

Yes, it's hurt that the Pats struck out on Butler, Wheatley, and Wilhite. But, seriously people, you guys going overboard over Dowling's injury need to get with reality.. Things like that happen. Last year the Pats didn't have a choice but to IR him even though he would have been back in 6 weeks or so. They had so many injuries that they couldn't afford to carry him on the roster. Just like they couldn't afford to carry Koppen on the roster.

This guy is amazing!

Was hurt in colleage
Is hurt in NFL

Yet everyone talks about how much talent he has when he should change his name from Dowling to Holding.
:bricks:

It's a coaching problem.
Why do you embarrass yourself with comments like this. Yeh our coaching sucks. He's horrible picking draft picks. Everyone else is better than him. That's why we've been at the bottom of the league for most of the last decade.

I love all those front runners who are now "through" with Dowling because he got hurt. These are the same mindless idiots who were "through" with Cunningham when he got hurt. "through" with Ridley when he lost one fumble. "through" with Vareen when he was hurt. And are now lining up to get their "through" cards for Lloyd in case he has a bad game on Sunday.

To them the guy leading the #1 offense in the league can't coach. The best coach in the NFL by far, suddenly doesn't know anything about defense OR developing assistent coaches We are suddenly in our own fanbase's eyes a sad sack organization that can't do anything right.

As each day goes along I begin to think more and more that we don't deserve the team we have. We are as spoiled and whiney as Jet fans are calling us.....and you, DI, are the leader of the pack. And what's really sad is that you are proud of the designation.

RIGHT! DI, is a coaching problem.

Re: Ras-IR-Dowling officially on IR

The only good thing about this secondary being so bad is that BB can completely reinvent it. I want a physical secondary like Seattle - big DB's who beat you up at the line of scrimmage. :)

Here are some guys on other practice squads who the Pats might be interested in:

Anthony Levine- Ravens
Neiko Thorpe - Chiefs (though not sure that BB would take someone from Crennel)
Michael Thomas - 49ers
Isaiah Frey - Bears
Laron Scott - Giants
Deshawn Shead - Seahawks

Then, of course, there are the re-tread free agents that are available:
Antwan Molden
Sergio Brown
Nate Jones
Kelly Jennings
Lito Sheppard
Rod Hood
Bryant McFadden

So, all in all, the choices aren't great..

Laron Scott is god awful. No thanks. I'd take a flyer on anyone coming out of Seattle or SF though. They seem to do a pretty good job of drafting DB's the last few years.

What a great pick. WR and CB/S are something we simply cant draft in the 1st 2 rounds.

Meriweather-Chung-Wheatley-Rasi-McCourty

Lets hope Wilson is not the next there

Re: Ras-IR-Dowling officially on IR

Chung can't stay healthy and is primarily an "In-the-Box" Safety. But that is what we knew about Chung when he was drafted.

That's a crock if I've ever heard one. People lauded his ability to constantly be around the ball and haul in INT's while being a threat returning the ball when he was first drafted. The highlight videos and commentary following them bared that out.

Re: Ras-IR-Dowling officially on IR

The only good thing about this secondary being so bad is that BB can completely reinvent it.

Be careful what you wish for, BB has been trying to re-invent the secondary since '07. 2 1st rounders, 4 2nd rounders on DB's since then and the secondary is a complete disaster as it stands today.

McCourty isn't good. No one respects McCourty. He may lead the team in pass deflections but (and im taking a wild guess here) he's probably been the most targeted CB.

I believe he has 2 INTs, 1 more than anyone else.

He makes a great play, and then completely blows the next one...trouble is the plays he ******s up are KILLER...like a PI in the endzone or a PI with not a lot of time remaining. Just because BB himself endorses McCourty doesn't mean he actually thinks he's good, it's just belichick being belichick...

Without looking it up, I believe Arrington has been the most targeted CB. We could realistically put a dead body out there and it would be better than Arrington.

Our Secondary is beginning to look like the Rams secondary last year.

McCourty has become the new Matt Light.

Matt Light would shut down his defender all game and then give up a sack late in the game and all you would hear all week "Light is a turnstile" or "They should replace Light with a speed bump because a speed bump would slow DEs from getting to Brady better than Light can".

McCourty is mostly having a solid, but not spectacular season overall (he has had a few bad mistakes a game here and there and a disaster 4th quarter vs. the Ravens). But even when he shuts down the guy he is covering for all game without a single penalty, people complain that he gets burnt on every play or that he is a PI waiting to happen the second he makes a mistake.

Haha, yeah I know it's either McCourty or Arrington. I feel like it's McCourty since Arrington was benched last game and the one before it, at least for a couple series I believe...

Yes, Arrington is far worse than McCourty. A few weeks ago, I saw a stat that opposing QBs were completing 80% of their passes vs. Arrington.

McCourty has been the lightning rod for fans this season, but Arrington has been the true disaster in the secondary this year.

There's still hope for McCourty. As bad as he's been this year (and he's often been terrible), he's been better than he was last year.

The Seahawks barely threw on McCourty. Neither did the Cards. I don't think McCourty has been nearly as targeted as people think. The opposing QBs have had such success throwing on guys like Arrington, Moore, and others why would they need to throw at McCourty who is the Pats' best secondary player.

I'd say McCourty is more inconsistent still than he is terrible. Sometimes he'll make a very good play. Sometimes I look at him and wonder what the hell he was thinking. But I agree that he hasn't been nearly as bad as some have made him out to be.
