I like your picks, except for the David Harris pick. He was good, but not very impressive. To me atleast. Not to mention that he is as slow as molasses. I think he runs the 40 in 4.7 and has even been timed near 4.8. That is slooooow.
01/24/07 - Senior Bowl North Team Wednesday Practice Report: David Harris has helped himself this week by showing the strength as an interior run plugger and surprising fluidity to the outside. He shows good instincts in coverage, but lacks the top flight change of direction to remain stuck to receivers. Still, he was always in the right place at the right time and would likely lead the team in tackles through the first three days of practice if such statistics were kept.

David Harris could possibly be a Ted Johnson clone?????????

You know what. I was just at a forum that I accdentally found the other night at like 2 in the morning. I wouldnt have remembered this if it wasnt for you mentioning that name. Some guy who said he has close ties to a player for the Brown football team was saying that BB has been to several of Deossie's practices this past yr. and has been around him for quite some time. Now, I never put much into **** like that, but take it FWIW. Havent seen a video on him, but d%#*!@t! If people keep talking about how much of a sleeper this guy is, then he'll no longer be a sleeper;)

Are you stating that Bill Polian is spying on the New England Patriots messageboard?

I agree with you on that assessment, but do we really want to use a 2nd rd. on a two down one-dimensional player? Our run d is fine, IMO. But, we really need to get guys that can follow those TE's and meet those quick RB's on the outside before they slip past our containment. I just dont see Harris doing that.

Now that you mention it. I wouldnt run it past that nut job. Anyway to one up us and he does it. ;)

The selection of Michael Griffin would be for the starting free safety position. Artrell Hawkins is slow as molasses in the defensive secondary and a serious upgrade is needed at free safety.

I am not sure where you get your info from but Hawkins is not as slow as molasses. He was originally drafted and played CB. He was not a top speed cb so Peas tried him at SS. He certainly is not a burner, but he is not slow either. He is average for his speed.

FWIW, just for the sake of argument. Hawkins last timed 40 that I could find documented on the internet was 4.31. That is damn fast, but I can tell ya right now he doesn't play that fast. I still think he is a solid player for us.

Where did you find that? I looked, but couldn't find it. Not many players play as fast as there combine time. I will stand by what I said before and I believe you agree. Hawkins is not blazing and not slow. He has average speed of a cb.

I just saw footage of the LSU and Florida safeties, and they are big hitters, but average in coverage. I would much rather have Griffin back there.

They had nothing on Griffin at the Senior Bowl.
"Texas' Michael Griffin and Miami's Brandon Meriweather apparently play at one speed. Despite wearing just shoulder pads, both safeties delivered big hits over the middle. There's a lot to like about their physical style of play, but they won't have a lot of fans if a player gets hurt. There's just too much on the line this close to draft day."

Maybe I exaggerated a little but Hawkins is not the long term solution at free safety for the New England Patriots. Michael Griffin has that potential.

I seriously hope that the LSU and Florida players continue to generate hype, so that Griffin falls to us. I am starting to think I should let this thread die so that we keep this information close to the vest!

Griffin is definitely a possible pick. Landry and Nelson are expected to go before our pick. Which leaves Griffin and Merriweather as the top guys. Unfortunately Merriweather has some character issues...

Your right on with this post. Based on projections, Landry and Nelson are expected to be the first 2 Safeties off the board. But things can change...simply because teams have preferences. Without actually KNOWING, it's entirely possible Griffin moves up and Landry or Nelson move down. But it doesn't really matter much, because I doubt all 3 Safeties go before #24. I just hope the Pats get the one they want. :)

These 3 Safeties are the main reason I've been posting for a playmaker with our first pick. They each have something different to offer...and either one would be a welcome addition to our secondary. Plus, me thinks one could very well be the pick.

Honestly I'm having trouble differentiating these days. Looking at the ht/wt of the SS listed by NFL Draft Scout (including Griffin) I wonder where the old time slow, big SS have gone and why they bother separating SS and FS now.

If size does matter at SS...keep an eye on Sabby Piscitelli, Oregon St, 6-3 224 and fast. Plays the run and pass well and is a late riser. Could develop behind Rodney for a year -- then who knows. Considered a 3rd-rounder now, but after workouts, etc -- could move up a round.

There are two others I like -- more later...

Sorry, he's not a secret -- and never has been. :bricks:

Yeah, they have him listed under the SS though. Take a look at the ht/wt for the SS there isn't a single one over 205 unless they also have a few extra inches of height. Rodney is listed at 6'0", 225 - no-one like that to be found.

his name is cato june and he plays linebacker instead of strong safety.

Hopefully they get Michael Griffin, but idk if he'll be available.

Re: Look At Pats Mock from Draft king- SWEET!!!!!

24. New England Patriots (via Seattle) - Paul Posluszny, LB, Penn St.
25. New Orleans Saints - LaMarr Woodley, DE/OLB, Michigan
26. New York Jets - Marshawn Lynch, RB, California
27. Philadelphia Eagles - Ted Ginn, Jr., WR, Ohio St.
28. New England Patriots - Michael Griffin, S, Texas
29. Baltimore Ravens - Kenny Irons, RB, Auburn
30. San Diego Chargers - Sidney Rice, WR, South Carolina
31. Indianapolis Colts - Patrick Willis, ILB, Ole Miss
32. Chicago Bears - Joe Staley, OT, Central Michigan

Frankly, if those guys were around, I'd rather have Woodley than Posluszny, and Ginn before either of them. Then Patrick Willis with the second pick.

wilson will never play fulltime CB for the pats.. why the hell do you think they moved him to FS?
