We can pretend that what we saw on TV was relevant data to the decision the coaches will make, but we all know deep down that the decision process is based on detail film work that turns up stuff that is beyond the football analytical ability of any of us.
Dennard makes the team
hogwash...I, Joe Kerr, the Antithetical Mel Kiper, hereby declare Jesse Holley a bona fide casualty of that menacing lurking guy in a turban wielding a scimitar...
1.) This is a kneejerk reaction thread
2.) You're welcome to think that Jesse Holley is making the team
Define long term...Mallett is signed thru 2014 only and he's not ready if Brady goes down this season. I don't know if he will ever be ready to run this offense without making some wholesale changes.
He wasn't making the team regardless of what happened tonight.

Now see, that's not what i saw. i saw him as being leaps and bounds above last year's exposure, and certainly better than anything I've seen from Hoyer so far.
Granted it's pre-season, but Mallett held his own against the 1st string defense of the Gints.
I'd be happy to take him over Hoyer.
And Holley made a nifty sideline catch. It's a shame that BB was let down by his booth guys topside. If he'd gotten his challenge flag out earlier, the Pats would've had a first down and likely a touchdown against the Gint.
that's how I see it, anyway. YMMV.

It seems that if Brady goes down that we will be F'd regardless... so let's cut both Mallett and Hoyer to open up some roster space, and give the second string chores to Edelman. Sure he will suck but at least he can put his defensive expertise to good work after he throws a pick. Vince can be the 3rd stinger and wildcat QB.
My concern is some of these guys did too much to make it to the PS.
PS Bedard says Demps was taken for x-rays, hopefully just precautionary.
MikeReiss: Rookie RB Jeff Demps, who didn't finish the game (medical staff checking leg area), says he is OK in post-game locker room. Demps answered a few questions from reporters. Came in later than most to locker room, likely after undergoing tests. GregABedard: Jeff Demps was taken for x-rays. Didn't appear serious. Most of the time those are precautionary.
Kraft has to do something about his broadcast arm...
Criqui informed me at one point tonight that Myron Pryor made a play...from the PUP. And the home grown so called talent isn't much better. If Steve Bruton's father hadn't been a Patriot, would he have a job in this market? And half of the halftime report was a commercial for Trader Joe's with the Mayo family... And the radio arm of the broadcast arm is just horrific. And Zolak was at his talk show host best hollering himself hoarse about the refs and cheap owners even as Jonathan came on an attempted to get his product back on message. Replacing DeOssie with Fauria isn't much of an upgrade for different reasons.

Down
Derek Dennis -- Rookie left guard battles hard, even playing through injury, but has trouble at times, such as a third-quarter miscue that leads to a sack of quarterback Brian Hoyer.
Ryan Mallett -- Quarterback doesn't have many open windows to throw the ball, but struggles with his accuracy and decision-making.
Darrion Weems -- Backup left tackle is beaten around the edge for a fourth-quarter strip-sack, which sets up the Giants' winning field goal.
Neither Hoyer or Mallett distinguished themselves, but its very hard to run an offense made up of everyone no one cares about. It was like the expendables 3. I would also remind people that both QB's looked better than Matt Castle did in the preseason of 2008, where IIRC over the entire preseason, he led the team to ZERO TD's and about 5 first downs. He made this year's Jets offense look prolific.Define long term...Mallett is signed thru 2014 only and he's not ready if Brady goes down this season. I didn't watch the game so take this with a grain of salt - Brady makes the team
I know that this is a kneejerk reaction thread, but that's just crazy talk. The guy didn't even play tonight.
Next thing you know, you'll be telling us he's starting......
