I was aghast on reading the following on the Globe's website:
---------
A little work needed on the offensive side, by DAN SHAUGHNESSY, Boston Globe website. (http://www.boston.com/sports/footba...6/a_little_work_needed_on_the_offensive_side/)
"It's pretty obvious the Patriots will beat the Colts Sunday and advance to the Super Bowl. Only a moron would pick against New England in a big game (anybody got a mirror?). The Patriots always win the big game.
Beating Peyton Manning and the Colts should be the easy part. It's the postgame celebration I'm worried about...."
--------------
Normally I ignore what this columnist writes because in my opinion, he is knowledgable about baseball/Red Sox and knows little about the Pats. That being the case, I just couldn't help but get shocked when I saw the opening line.
If he wants to come down on the Pats for the excessive celebration, he should be free to do it. But why make such arrogant predictions?? Isn't he disrespecting the opponents - which is exactly what the Pats thought the Chargers were doing to us before the game??
I am now starting to wonder if he is among those determined to pull the Pats down and give the Colts enough bulletin material. I am fuming...
Edit: I understand that the article is quite even-handed after the first couple of paras and requests the Pats to tone it down. But those opening lines...
