I have been ardently avoiding BSPN, NFL network etc this whole week.....pull up email account ATT via Yahoo....and glance at top story as I'm logging in..."Giants front 4 ready to go after Brady" ...Wow no sh*t....REALLY....wow what a great strategy! I wish the Pats front 4 were ready to go after Gomer Manning! In fairness didn't read that BS story and am really tired of all this Gint team and fan....and mediot chest pumping and disrespect for the Pats. There is SO MUCH bulletin board material for this game our guys should be eating barbed wire and sh*tting nickels! GO PATS!

I love how all the media love is going to the NYG. It gives more confidence as we get closer and everyone assumes that the Pats D will get walked over. They have clearly improved as the weeks go on and I really hope they show up with the same "chip" that the Giants D used in the '07 SB.

That's exactly what I'm feeling right now and I don't play so I also hope our boys are feeling that way! Well said.

It is not surprising at all to me, that the Giants and their supporters are very vocal about this game, and the Patriots & their supporters...not so much.

Basically this game is a bonus for the Giants.

If they win, it will be "See we told you!, The Giants are the greatest ever... not the Pats.. we've shown it twice!"

If they lose, it will be "Oh well, we still ended their perfect season in 2007 and proved we are at least as good as the Patriots" ....with a few "the better team lost that day" and "they had to have been taping our practices" idiots sprinkled in. They really don't have as much to lose in terms of "face", as the Patriots do.

Look at the alternative.. What will be said about the Pats if we lose this game? At best we will have a 50/50 split with the giants. Not "revenge" because a win in 2007 for us stands alone, and winning this year (while being sweet as hell) will not fully erase losing the perfect season.
This would all be magnified if the Pats did any sort of trash talk at all.

As it is, this board (and entire fanbase) might have to be on perpetual suicide watch for the rest of our existence, should we lose to the Giants. (remember when someone was assembling a team of Mental Health professionals to council Bostonians as the Red Sox were down 0-3 to the Yankees in 2004?)
This is why I wanted ZERO part of a rematch. It doesn't make 2007 any better, it just has the potential to make it WAY, WAAAAYYY WORSE!
Not that I am saying I fear the Giants TEAM more than any other potential NFC opponents... Just that I fear what a loss to the Giants would mean vs. a loss to another NFC team.
In the case of losing to any other team it would be "Hey, the Pats are still great because they made it to 2 additional superbowls in 4 years in the later part of BB abd TFB's careers." as opposed to losing to the Giants, where it will be "The Giants were the true team of the decade, and proved it by de-throning the Patriots, not once... but TWICE".. and many more idiotic storylines. :bricks:

If the Pats destroy them to the tune of 49-6, I think it will definitely erase a lot of sting. It would be the ultimate catharsis.

I saw like 123123123123123 times the giants players are on the news and i cant recall over 4 times that i saw a pats player...

On second thought, you're right!
There's not a shred of truth in anything I wrote... right?

But to agree with you on 1 part of that statement.. I too, can't wait to start this game and whip their @SSES! :rocker:

If Big Vince and Love play anywhere near the level that they both played in the AFCCG, then it's Eli who will be running for his life. Those two completely collapsed the pocket and, were it not for the fact that Flacco can move a bit (as can Eli), the Patriots would have had about seven or eight sacks in that game. In fact, Anderson got within inches of Flacco on many of the plays that Flacco eventually was able to get the ball of on. Anderson will be an X-factor in the SB.

As an aside: I don't think there is any coach better at getting guys who other teams have given up on and turning them into borderline pro-bowlers, or in the case of Andre Carter, legitimate pro-bowlers. Anderson has played very well in increased duty, and it makes me wonder why he wasn't a starter from day one. Sterling Moore, an undrafted and nameless guy, has made plays in so many games for the Patriots. I will keep an eye on both of them in the SB. Oh, let's not forget about Brian Waters who, though he has had a great career, was given up on by KC. People are going to focus on the failed experiments that are Haynesworth and Ocho because they are the bigger names. However, this offseason was perhaps Bill's best in terms of free agency. Man, how I wish Carter was suiting up for this game!

Hmm....this Sunday's scenario, and the circus leading up to reminds me of the run up to the SB against Carolina. The Patriots were favored, but 5 or 6 iirc, but many, many people in the media were all over Carolina because "there was no way the Patriots can handle CAROLINA'S FRONT FOUR of Peppers, Buckner, Rucker, and Jenkins.
Lots of media/fans were pumping up Carolina because they had just beaten Philadelphia on the road in the NFC title game. I distinctly remember fat azz Warren Sapp LAUGHING at the prospect of Russ Hochstein "trying to block" Jenkins....Result? Patriots did not allow a sack in FORTY EIGHT drop backs....
Lots of similarities between this upcoming game and SB 38....

GO PATS

What will be out Defensive Game plan and Offensive Game plan?

Little surprise we are not discussing it on this board which usually gets a lot of analysis before the games. May be because of 2 week break.

Defense:

Challenges: Eli, 3 WRs (especially Victor Cruz), Bradshaw. Can we get them off on 3rd downs?
Strengths: Wilfork, Deadrick, Love, SPikes played very well. Can we get the pressure on Manning and cover their guys?

Offense:

Gronk? or No Gronk?

If Gronk is say 90-95%, what will be our game plan? The Giants can be run on. BJGE ran pretty good. In this case, we can stop their Pass rush since we will have a lot mismatches with Giants focusing on Gronk, Hernandez and Welker.

If Gronk is less 70% or does not play, what would we do? How do we balance? Can we still run against them?

Won't it be great, on our first drive, we run 5 times, throw 3 times and score a TD? That would send a great message.
