With all the other 10-3 teams losing this weekend, the Patriots are now alone at the top of the conference, and hence project to the #1 seed.

If everything holds up, the Patriots' first playoff game will be against the winner of a wild card game between one of Pitt/Balt (I'm guessing Pitt, but I haven't checked) and Denver.

Not necessarily. Whoever gets the sixth seed is plenty capable of beating a Houston team with TJ Yates that just got stomped at home by Carolina.

If that happens, then we'd play the sixth seed.

Worry about matchups later, just get a bye, #1 or #2. This weekend was a downright miraculous alignment of events to help that happen :D

We'll be playing whoever plays the Texans, because the chances of that Yates kid winning a playoff game are pretty slim. So, yes, the stars are alignimg for a Jets/Patriots playoff rematch.

Nothing would please NFL fans around the nation more than the Jets NOT making the playoffs!:D

Fans just don't like rooting for an arse like Rex....

The rest of the country hates Belichick more, I can assure.

If you were to read this board, one might think our record is comparable to Indy's.. to think that this team with all of its defensive injuries, might win 12 or 13 games is pretty amazing..

Being close to the top for this long is pretty damned good, we are spoiled. Enjoy it..

The difference is that if Belichick were a .500 coach without a history of winning, he would draw almost no attention and hate. Rex will draw it regardless of the Jet's record because of the bullying, individualism, and punk culture he encourages.

Very true, but a very sad commentary on American Culture..

Rex Strong points are his bombasity and braggadocio, attributes that are usually downplayed by the Patriots.. but for some reason valued by many.

Perhaps, because I am old school, prefer the Belichick way more than the Ryan way.

With all of the defensive issues, injuries, and ever-shifting personnel, what a pleasant turn of events. Especially for the old timers who remember the enormous difficulty of winning in the NFL, this is most impressive. Steady as she goes.

That's where it's all pointing right now. The Jets will absolutely wipe out the Texans and a return trip to Foxboro will be in order.

This is not who I want to see walking into Foxboro in January. Our only hope is that the Giants beat the Jets this week and hope that Cincy can win both of their remaining 2 games Arizona and Baltimore. Hopefully that last weekend game against Baltimore is meaningless for the Ravens assuming they'll already have their playoff position wrapped up, maybe they'll rest some guys.

God I hope note. As much as I would love to beat the jets, loosing to them in the playoffs again would kill me.

You're prolly right...but at least Belichick isn't a bafoon like Rex. Besides, we have Tom Brady to counter-balance our coach. After all, who can't like someone named Tom Brady?

The difference between BB and Rex is that Rex wants/needs attention while Belichick tries to stay away from the media. I see nothing good about the job Rex has done...he's an aweful coach...plain & simple.

There's a difference between jealousy and resentment based on achievement opposed to genuine hate shmessy. :p

with all the talk of the pats having the worst D in the histroy of all sports ( I dont agree because you dont win or lose by yards) but for the sake of this argument, lets say they are...imagin what this team would do with just an average D... They'd never lose. Fact.

I've got #6 Tennessee at #3 Houston
#5 Pittsburgh at #4 Kansas City

These are my 4 teams for the first weekend.

Second weekend:

#5 Pittsburgh at #1 New England
#3 Houston at #2 Baltimore

I personally would love to see the Jets, I just don't want to pay the bet I made on them missing the postseason.

From your lips to God's ears. The Jets or Cincy would be the best option for the Pats.

I just don't think the Jets can beat any good team.

Well Deus Irae still contends that the Indianapolis Colts are the NFL's best organization of this century.
