Re: Time to bring in a DC and change of Defensive Philosophy

Please Mods, don't move this thread, can we discuss this?

32nd ranked defense in the league, there is a big problem.

Re: Time to bring in a DC and change of Defensive Philosophy

And use what for players? A few good linemen(Wilfork) and a couple linebackers(Mayo and maybe Spikes) and 1 in the secondary(Chung).

Ths D needs a total overhaul!

Re: ****** Official unofficial Patriots/Steelers postgame thread ******

For all the concern about the D and the secondary; the TOP shows the O didn't show up today.

Someone's really screwing up the thread mergers.

Re: ****** Official unofficial Patriots/Steelers postgame thread ******

Awful.

Just awful.

The first time we have some half-decent play out of McCourty and Arrington, and the LBs and Safeties decide there's no point covering anyone across the middle.

I'm not one for overreactions, so i'll stick to a couple of facts.

1. We need a new DC. Pees came from within. He sucked. Patricia comes from within. He sucks. This 3-4 Over/Under/ 4-3 that we play is outdated and does not get constant pressure. It seems like we get a sack or nothing, not the pressure that 80% of teams get regularly.

2. The Ocho experiment must now be over.

3. Why was Woodhead returning kicks? It was a fumble waiting to happen.

4. They need to take a serious look at themselves for the last 3-5 drafts in terms of developing young talent on the team. Adding the vets over the offseason seems to have aged the roster by about 7 years.

And finally,

If I hear the word Value when Bill trades down with one or both of our 1sts next April, I may well impale myself on a spike.

For all the concern about the D and the secondary; the TOP shows the O didn't show up today.

It also shows that the D didn't force a punt until late in the 4th quarter. There's plenty of blame to go around today, but at least we know that the offense typically can produce. On the basis of that, I don't think it's unreasonable to give them a bit of a pass. They can't play their best game every week.

Re: Time to bring in a DC and change of Defensive Philosophy

Did you see anything bending on 3rd downs? what a ridiculous thread. we don't have any defensive backs. Knute Rockne couldn't coach Moulden into doing anything but running in circles and being constantly beat. I swear some of the threads here are mind boggling. Yeah, if we draw Xs an 0s different we'll have a defensive backfield.

There was plenty of pressure today, BTW, watch the game. Rothlisburger is the toughest QB in the league to stop with pressure and we were quite successful. When you can't stay within 5 yards of any receiver, a drone missile isn't going to help, much less human beings bringing pressure.

Lets go get T.O and they need a DC, it's getting pathetic. BB is loosing it.

Why did the post game thread start on Oct 24th

Re: Time to bring in a DC and change of Defensive Philosophy

Most of the time the Patriots sent 5-6 rushers, they never got to the quarterback. As a result, the middle of the field was wide open and Miller/Brown/Moore would be there for an easy 8+ yard pick up.

Team does not blitz well, should have rushed 3-4 and played coverage. Don't know why the coaches thought it would be a good idea to have this depleted secondary try to match up one on one.

Positives:
Run defense
Red zone defense
Played mistake free aside from the Ghost FG/onside, took advantage of nearly every opportunity and somehow made it a game.

Negatives:
Everything else but the TE's and Wilfork/Carter

I think the #1 problem this defense has is the fact that players are moving in and out seemingly every week.

All the great defenses have stable rosters with at most 2-3 major changes a season.

We field an entirely new squad every year, and overhaul it halfway through the season as soon as it starts to gel!

Re: ****** Official unofficial Patriots/Steelers postgame thread ******

The TOP was because the Patriots efense couldn't keep the Steelers from marching up and down the field all game.

Is the patriots offense overrated. That brady long incomplete pass to price is why rodgers is better than brady. Brady doesn't throw well on the run, Price was open and a more mobile qb completes that pass. I'm more worried about the offense than defense.

This is such crap. Why can't we discuss if the team needs to change defensive philosophy????

Mod Homer Censorship much

Re: Time to bring in a DC and change of Defensive Philosophy

I would like to know why we had to include Kevin Faulk in the offense as much as we did? It seems clear that the Patriots were out coached today both by the Steelers and themselves.

I genuinely LOVE the pats, but i have to admit when i think there's a problem. If we can bring in a good DC(I'm not saying i know who) and give bill less to worry about so he can concentrate more on HC I think that would be a good start. Can anyone honestly say they feel good about this defense? Especially in the playoffs?

You would think they would have changed the scheme after Heath Miller caught dozens of passes in the first quarter.

not to mention that ben is one of the best QB's at avoiding the blitz....we did get to him a couple times with A.Carter....but what good is it when on the next play he completes a 3rd and long
