I am pretty worried about our Offensive line. I think we need a center stat!
plz quote the many nice things I said about Crump and his worth(bahaha). It is hard to predict a Rookies impact. For most of you guys Keeping Crump was a very easy decision b/c he was a "VETERAN" and "Locker Room Leader"
clearly the Crump side is more wrong... I at least predicted him being CUT
End of the day Crump was RELEASED and Smith was claimed off of our PS.
Crump gone 100% right by me.
Me saying Smith was a Lock was a foolish comment especially in a shortened off-season. Lets evaluate the scenario... Who LEFT this Team 1st via Release?
who left the squad 1st?
I was wrong about Light... we were LUCKY this was a short off season or he would surely be GONE
I wonder if Koppen means Cannon is progressing.
Hopefully, this is indirect good news per Dowling
I completely forgot about Cannon! I wonder how he is doing, he could be a big shot in the arm come week 6 (or so), exactly what the Pats need another guard.
I wonder what Stephan Neal is doing right now...............

I rather not. Neal has said that he is one shoulder surgery from not moving his shoulders ever again. I'll pass.
And they replaced him with . . . a CB.

I strongly suspect this was done to prevent certain other teams from raiding the cupboard. (NY G or ?)
If we need another OL or P; I wonder what we would do to create space if we are already having to protect our PS guys.
Aside from the previous responses about the Pats not being able to afford to use up that roster spot due to all the injuries at other positions that required replacements, it is also possible that Belichick considered the Taylor situation and learned from his mistake - that it made more sense to use that roster spot on a player that can contribute now rather than rolling the dice on an injured player maybe/maybe not being productive several weeks from now.
As for the in-season disabled list debate, the way I see it the league already has one: it is the seven roster spots known as inactive on game day.
1) We don't need another OL on the 53 man roster. Solder and Wendell are fine backups. And we do have one developmental backup: Thomas. We also have Welch, Kopa and McDonald on the Practice Squad. Finally, we have Cannon on PUP.
2) We might need another punter for awhile. Any of the following 4 players who MIGHT be waived if we need a roster spot.
WRIGHT
Is he really still on the 53?
ONE OF THE BACKUP DEFENSIVE BACKS
We have ADAMS, IHEDIGBO and MOLDEN on the roster.
When did Wendell transform into a "fine backup"?
When did Wendell transform into a "fine backup"?
I understand that many expect all-pro's as their backups, or potential all-pro's like Solder. This is not always possible.
Wendell has started and looked OK when he did. He is in the mold of Ruegamer and Hochstein. Sure, I'd love to have another Waters at C/G. Wendell is up to the job at hand. Call him "fine" "adequate" or "JAG". It's all the same. Plug him in when needed. He'll do his job.
To be clear, I was one calling for the acquisition of a veteran C/OG as an upgrade over Wendell. But Wendell is certainly adequate for the job.
Wendell has certainly not looked adequate for the job. All-Pro isn't necessary, but capable would be a nice start.
