Huge loss.

Connelly could cure cancer and reduce unemployment and you'd still have concerns.
Admit it, he stole your wife or girlfriend. I won't tell anyone.

Yah I know we lose on run blocking with Dan out.

1.) I said nothing about Connolly at center.

2.) I wasn't thinking of Connolly v. Koppen at all, but about overall interior depth. Instead of Mankins/Connolly/Waters/Koppen, it's Mankins/Connolly/Waters/Wendell.

3.) If you think the team loses on run blocking with Connolly v. Koppen, then your crack at me doesn't even make sense.

You've seen enough of my posts that you should know better than to think I have any crusades about any players based upon anything but playing ability. Leave that to the tinfoil posters on both sides of the homer/hater spectrum.

ugh, not a good thing no matter how much you try to say it makes no difference.

I don't know if there's enough room between the two guards to fit Cannon

Of course there is.

We are a Connelly injury away from having serious issues at a very important position.

Does this mean the end of road for Koppen in Pats uniform. Is this not his last year on contract ?

I think Ojinnaka is available if needed...at least he has been in this offense

EDIT: Now with the Rams

I know what you mean, there have always been plenty of injuries in the NFL, however it seems that in the past year or two every team seems to have a fair share of injuries, often to significant players. Perhaps this year you can blame the lockout for the lack of conditioning, however it seems that in the past year or two, nearly every game that you watch someone is lost for the year from one of the teams on the field.

If every team in the NFL averaged 8 IRed players per season from weeks 1-17, then that would work out to "one IRed player per game" or so. Sounds about right. Last year the Pats had 14 players on IR, although a lot of them went on there before the season even started. Still, sounds about right.

Nothing will ever compare to the 2005 season in terms of IR....I believe that was the most injury ravaged season in NE the past decade.

Re: Koppen to IR

Really? I thought Garay dominated Connolly at times. Then again Koppen routinely got dominated by good DTs too.
Based upon what?

Ouch.

Two weeks.
Wright looks out.
Koppen and Pryor to IR.
Hernandez out for a while.

Not quite Kansas City, but some big losses quickly.

Too bad about Koppen. I hope his career with the Patriots doesn't end on IR.

Many of us salivated at those top Centers available as udfa's - O'Dowd, Bartholomew, Barnes, Kowalski, Kirkpatrick. One of those would look nice providing depth now. I wonder if any are available.

Let's hope at least Wendell's calf is better.

On Pryor - maybe a call to Warren if he is still available. Pryor was playing very well.

It is not good to lose Koppen. And, yes, he is in his contract year.

TOP SEVEN
However, we now have Mankins, Connolly and Waters. They've been extremely effective. We need Wendell to be back healthy as the Game Day interior line backup. He is fine in that role. He has started at both positions.

We are fine with out three game Game Day OT's, although it is troublesome that Vollmer isn't practicing.

We have a fine top 7 offensive linemen, the Game Day offensive linemen. The starters group are arguably the best in the NFL. I'm fine with Solder and Wendell. They are a fine set of Game Day backups.

DEEPER DEPTH
Now we talking about our inactives, Practice Squad and PUP players. OK, I also would have kept LeVoir. I would prefer to have a center in Dante's Academy.

However, we have 5 developmental players: 2 OG's, 2 OT's plus Cannon. I think that we are fine.

And we do all this with only 9 OL's on the 53 man roster.

BOTTOM LINE
After the losing of Koppen, we are still the top offensive line in the nfl.

A SIDE NOTE
We should be extending Connolly as soon as possible. I would even extend Wendell. These two are our two centers.

How did you "nail" Crump? You said that Lee Smith would make the team, a bunch of others said that Crump would make the team, and ultimately we were all wrong.
