Thanks for commenting. The parallel to Gaffney is that I think one of those 3 receivers will need to contribute this season. Gaffney became a reliable receiver who could be counted on beyond the 3 other starters in 2007.
I am curious to see if any of these 3 receivers will be a solid contributor, and be another reliable option for Brady.
Whether you like Gaffney or not he was a solid contributor. I want to see who can step up to play that role.

I liked Gaffney a lot actually. I'm sorry that I didn't see a parallel between picking up Gaffney in midseason when we had no one, then having a savvy veteran as a versatile receiver with Moss and Stallworth.
As I said, the other two are young and unproven and there's not as much space to fill IMO, so they need to create a role.
Didn't mean to get on your bad side, I just don't see a real parallel to Gaffney for a lot of reasons, mainly being that Gaffney was really our #2, and we already have two in ocho and Branch.
I made a joke, but I like gaffney. I think if we needed to pick up a veteran it would be more similar, but with all the running backs, TEs and Welker, I don't see a crucial role left (barring injury) which I think Gaffney had, much more than Stallworth.
I would expect the occasional deep pattern might be a way to make your bones, which wasn't the case when we had Moss.
Didn't mean to seem like I was criticizing your article, just treated it like a post and gave my opinion. Love Gaffney, I've always been a supporter, but Branch and ocho might take up most of those routes IMO.
