OT: Aaron Rodgers ceiling/potential?

Hmm, Aaron Rodgers himself says that Brady is "hands down the best QB in the NFL", and I think Rodgers might know more about assessing a QB than you do.

Maybe he was being gracious. Or maybe he meant "up until the game really matters and then he chokes". Bottom line he has the latest SB trophy and we have nothing but our bitter tears to choke on.

1) Rodgers specifically cited TFB as the best, he could have named several and said they were among the best without singling out one but he didnt, he gave praise to TFB. That's being complimentary, not gracious.

2) Teams win games, not individual players. Green Bay is a very good team, offensively and defensively, Rodgers is in an excellent position to succeed. I don't think we win against the Jets with Rodgers as our QB and I think Brady does even better than Rodgers in the playoffs with Green Bay level of talent around him.

rodgers is in a very enviable position atm. He literally can rack up so many stats... and at the same time win multiple championships.

And lets not act like rodgers was NOT the main reason why they won the superbowl... the kid had to play phenomenol for them to win. That speaks volumes.

And i agree, his ceiling is a steve young with multiple superbowls..

I noticed how sick Aaron Rodgers was long before this superbowl. It must be the #12, but he is very different from Brady. Aaron Rodgers ability to scramble is absolutely necessary with that shaky line. Just the fact that he can run changes the way defenses play him compared to what Brady sees(ex-Jets in the playoffs stop us and colts but rothlesburger runs around and cant be stopped).

But the biggest difference between Brady and Rodgers is Rodgers does not take what the defense gives him. Its all vertical routes and hard slants. If you can stop the slants you can really slow them down. Rodgers also seems like he doesn't have the patience to lead a long drive, always looking for the big play and thats why he takes so many unnecessary sacks.

IMO he's like roethlisberger in that regard, yes he'll hold on to it longer than normal, but also his oline has been worse at times than anything ben's had to deal with in pitt

i think your assesment is pretty good

He has HoF potential, no doubt, I think it comes down to his protection: concussions are no good and he's already had a bad one. If they can keep defenders off of him he can tear up the league.

One more thing about Rodgers, he's very smart, he went on record saying that 'TFB is hands down the best QB in the NFL'. A guy that is that smart and humble is the guy I fear, certainly not a guy like Cam Newton, who probably thinks little of Brady.

and GB knows this and spent their last 2 first rounders at OL. He needs to be more of a pocket passer to extend his career and put up those big career numbers.

IMHO, i think rodgers would be a phenomenal pocket pass quarterback.. Hell, he will be able to scramble if a play breaks down, and his athletic ability will make him almost impossible to defend under a good/great O-Line

I'm still hoping brady gets 2-3 more titles, but this guy is MUCH better than brady. Compare his quick release rifle shots to brady's choke fest. It was embarassing. Horrific.
I'm assuming this was meant as satire?

This discussion reminds me of last year, just replace "Rodgers" with "Brees."

That only works if you also replace 28 years old with 32.

i mean, how amazing is it that we will witness another "steve young" who has a chance to win more superbowl and rack even more insane numbers?

And on top of that, AR seems like a grounded guy. If i was not a patriots fan, i would most definitively be a green bay fan

The Drew Brees name dropping makes sense as GB's offense is essentially a ripoff of Sean Payton's spread with a couple of naked boots and full backfields thrown in. Rogers is a very good player, and I am very happy to see him succeed. I do however think that if you take away his quick reads and contain his ass that he's not perfect. Rogers strikes me as a QB you beat with contain and cover. I would have liked to have seen what Belichick would have drawn up.

he has the highest potential in the nfl..until the next qb wins the sb and then he will have the highest..kind of like brees before him.

You don't understand. If I had only won a Bowl.. I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda BEEN somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let's face it. It was you, Brady. It was always you....

this is Joker...saying his forlorn goodbye...down on the waterfront....

I dont watch the Saints that much, but I always thought their offense relied on TEs and RBs too much to be considered a spread offense.
