Two step plan of action, once the new CBA is signed:
1.) If BB is successful in going up and trading for WR Green of Georgia, then I would trade Welker to Atlanta for a third in 2012, but add a conditional clause that if Atlanta wins for NFC championship next season, then it is upgraded to a second.
2.) BB calls his dear old friend Al Davis in Oakland and consoles poor Al on losing Pro Bowler Nnamdi from his secondary, but because Al is a dear friend, BB offers Al a solution to Al's secondary problem; the services of pro bowler Merriweather for the meager price of a 2012 second round pick. BB instructs Al to just sign the papers that BB is faxing over and then to forward the papers to the NFL office in New York.
In 2012 we start out with 1 first and 2 seconds and 2 third or 1 first and 3 seconds.
You know I admire your work, Brother Jones, so I'm sure you'll take this in a respectfull context:
1 ~ I think your proposal to effectively trade an early
2011 1st Rounder ~ the price for AJ Green ~ for a 2012 3rd Rounder ~ equivalent to a
2011 4th Rounder ~ in order to swap Wes Welker for AJ Green is an HORRIBLE mistake:
A ~ You're Selling Low on Welker, one year after his Huge Injury: History tells as that most guys don't get back to True Form until their SECOND year back. And Welker is a FANATIC who is very likely, indeed, to rock back to his previously AMAZING form, next year, and sustain it for the next several years: A year from now, his Market Value is probably going to be about that of Brandon Marshall: Consecutive 2nd Rounders. And you want to trade him for the equivalent of a 4th??
B ~ It's VERY debatable whether Green would be an upgrade on Welker,
in terms of winning Championships: Last year, if any example is really needed, illustrated, DRAMATICALLY, how much more effective our Offense was as soon as we dumped Mister Home Run Threat and concentrated on
Moving The Chains. Green is a wonderfull talent, but his kind not only fail to Move The Chains, they
Maddenize the Offensive Philosophy of the teams they join, which has proven, time and again, to be
fatal to the Championship Quest, as every Pat fan ~ respectfully submitted, sir ~ ought realize.
C ~ Have you considered what it would take to Trade Up to pick Green?? If he goes #5, for instance, that would take #17, #28, AND #92...No, SPANK you!!
2 ~ Stomper for a 2012 Raider 2nd ~ the equivalent of a 2011 3rd??? ~ That would be HORRIBLE compensation for the guy. As Pat fans, we might be hyper critical of the guy, but the fact remains that he is young, healthy, HIGHLY talented, Strong AND Fast, and has TWO consecutive All Pro's under his belt. Considering that we raked the Saints for the equivalent of a 3rd, a 5th, AND a 7th for
Tebucky Jones, bless his soul, I have to believe that ~ particularly in a year where there is an exceptionally weak Free Safety Class ~ we could get consecutive 2nd Rounders and CHANGE.
