Suh Wins Rookie Of The Year award; McCourty a distant 2nd

Re: Suh Wins Rookie Of The Year award

I may be in the minority here but I really wonder how Ty Warren will be coming back after a year off...He may not be the player he once was and we need to have 2 ADEQUATE FAs or draftees up front for depth and backup just in case Warren struggles.

His surgery was to remove a bone spur in his hip. He should be the ole run stuffin' Ty in 2011.

Ty says he's been hurting for a year and a half, but from what I read the injury was new.

Maybe is body needed a break- which is not a good sign.

Yeah and if he was a Patriot you would have had a hard-on all season knowing he was a player here

Typical dumb homer reaction, expected of course at Patsfans

This is a typical knee-jerk reaction by stereotyping this as a "typical" dumb homer reaction. Shame on you. I'm a proud homer and believed this award belonged to Suh. Please don't lump all homers this way. ;)

Re: Suh Wins Rookie Of The Year award

Overrated.

Makes the big plays that get him on the highlight reel.

Gets overpowered for the next 3 quarters.

It's stuff like this that makes me seriously consider quitting this forum.

Re: Suh Wins Rookie Of The Year award

I mean this isn't the AP rookie award, though Suh will probably win that too. Bradford will take home OROY.

You go back through my posts, you'll see how much of a homer I am actually, a-hole.

I see every Lions game at some point during the week when I meet up with the few mates I have that like NFL. We watch the Pats, Lions and Jaguars games. 3 teams that we support.

In my opinion, Terrence Knighton had a better season than Suh from the 16 games I saw.

Suh is very good, he has flaws that they'll iron out under Schwartz. He'll be one of the best but he doesn't need to be overhyped right now.

Bit like McCourty, Devin's on his way to being elite, but he still gets beaten at times. Although, like Suh that decreased as the season went on.

December onwards, Suh was actually a better player than early on IMO. He wasn't making as many big plays that got him on a highlight reel, but he was in there forcing runners into other defenders. He was causing plays like some of the great DT's/NT's do in this league.

Anyone got a problem with that?

Re: Suh Wins Rookie Of The Year award

Earl Thomas is another guy who should be up there in the DROY voting, right? (behind Suh bvut w/McCourty, etc.)

Anybody know how Berry performed this year?

Re: Suh Wins Rookie Of The Year award

Don't worry McCourty you'll win SOTY

Re: Suh Wins Rookie Of The Year award

A DT is judged by how many good plays they made. A CB is judged by how many good plays they give up.

I think McCourty was the more consistent and overall better rookie defender, but at a position where he would've needed 10 interceptions minimum to beat out Suh and his 10 sacks, it's an easy choice for the general public.

Re: Suh Wins Rookie Of The Year award

Well deserved, would of been kind of dumb if Bradford won it. Bradford has been good and all but I think Mike Williams out to be OROY. Suh is an absolute beast. In most year McCourty probably could of won this.

Dumb if Bradford won it?

Bradford helped a laughing stock of a franchise get to a respectable 7-9 and could have actually been in the playoffs as a division champ if they had won in Seattle.

Bradford led his team much like Matt Ryan did a few years ago

Give the kid some credit

I think I worded it wrong, I like him he had a pretty decent year, but Suh was a pro bowler and played great. 7-9 isn't very good still. Ryan led the falcons to 11-5. I think Mike Willliams,Gronk,Pouncey and Blount should get more consideration for OROY. Sounds like Bradford is going to run away with it though.

if Sam Bradford and the rams would have made the playoffs he would have won it peyton manning is the only rookie QB that ever passed for more yerd in he's rookie season then Bradford,

Re: Suh Wins Rookie Of The Year award

It's not really much of a debate. Suh is the best rookie DL to come into the NFL in a long time. He earned the win. McCourty is one of the best rookie corners I've ever seen. He would have won it any other year. *shrugs*

No defensive tackle in the league this year spent more time creating negative plays for their defense than Suh, rookie or not.

Most total defeats
1. Ndamukong Suh(notes), Detroit Lions (29)
If you watched Suh’s rookie season, this should come as no surprise. No tackle in the league spent more time creating negative plays than Suh. And the scary part is that Suh’s going to only get better.

2. Kyle Williams, Buffalo Bills (20)

3. Jason Jones, Tennessee Titans (18)

I agree with your post and this quote...yes apparently your opinion of Suh shows this clearly

What, that he was overrated last season?

He was.

Watch their games and you'll see.

Being called the best DT in the NFC already. Ridiculous.

Potentially the best in the NFL. Right now, he's not.

But he was much better after Thanksgiving than he was before from what I saw.

Homer? You're a ****.
