Another BB 3rd round experiment gone bad..........with Crable and Kevin O'Connell

I wouldnt say that. Tate does have some value, he is very quick and can be used on kick offs and reverses. He does bring some things to the table, could he be replaced? Definitely, but I dont think he is a total bust.

He runs poor routes, has bad hands and struggles to get separation because his speed is not really at burner level.

I'm sure he's good to his mom, though.

He's got a lot of work to do if he's going to become a quality receiver in the NFL. I've got WR as one of the top 5 priority positions, largely because of his play.

Probably all reasons why Brady doesn't trust him much. Thoughts on Julio Jones?

His production seemed to drop off and he wasn't burning it up like at the beginning of the season, especialy on returns...at least to my eyes.

These guys get banged up...just sayin'.

From personal experience, a groin pull can effect your overall burst and crispness, for example.

Just trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't get to see as many games as you guys.

This was his 1st season playing and he actually contributed unlike Crable and O'connell.

He's a 4.45 guy who could go in the top 5-10. I wouldn't waste the picks to move up that high, especially with the team's needs at DE and OLB. Unfortunately, since a lot of the other top prospects are staying in school, the WR position is suddenly looking a lot less exciting that it did a couple of months ago.

Frankly, if I could con the Lions out of Megatron for a #1 and a #2, I'd go that route.

As a side note, imagine how much better off the Raiders would have been if they'd chosen Johnson instead of Russell.

I expect more out of Jermaine Cunningham as well.1 sack is what he had.

Cunningham got far more pressure than that one sack. He had the hit on Manning that forced the game-winning pick and there was one time in the second Jets game where Sanchez grabbed Cunningham's facemask and spun him around. He definitely needs to work on his tackling, but the pass-rushing ability is definitely there.

From the little we've seen of him, Bethel Johnson. He only has one season of playing to his resume, so the jury is still out on what he can do. But I'm not impressed and don't see him as any better than our 4th WR.

Actually someone threw out the "Tony Simmons" comparison (there are probably some people here that remember him) and I thought that was interesting.

I agree with that. I would take DE, OLB, RG before I would take WR. However, if there were a WR that I would take that early, it would be Jones. Tall, big bodied WR with soft hands that runs good routes and plays much faster than his 40 time.

Well, there are rumors that Dez Bryant could be available. ;)

Wow, yeah I remember him. He was the Michael Bishop of WR's in terms of hype.

Just another JAG sounds right. Couple of nice kick off returns at the beginning of the year and then nothing on returns the rest of the year. I thought his hands looked OK and he made a couple of nice diving catches, but he never looked like a deep threat. I'd love to see them get a legit burner.

Next year? Tommy doesn't have a lot of time left. BB's trade-downs and gambles with these 3rd round WR picks are getting old and time is passing by without any results.

The Jets go out and trade for 2 proven studs (Braylon Edwards and a measley 5th round pick for a stud like Santonio Holmes) and we're giving Tom a bust WR in Tate with no damn size or separation ability and a Deion Branch on the back 9. We need a serious upgrade here or we'll continue to see bunched up safeties and game plans designed to blow up everything within the 20 yard dink and dunk box like we witnessed unfortunately on Sunday night.

If we don't draft a Julio Jones or a proven big play WR early in this draft, then we'll have to get something in FA, someone proven, because Tate is clearly not the answer and Price simply wouldn't be ready to contribute like a proven vet. How great would a Braylon Edwards look on this team right now?

Not an Edwards fans but very well offered post. Would Moss have made a difference in just this one game? Yes, he could have been the difference maker. Let Revis follow him all over.

Would it surprise me to see Moss back? No. I think at his age we can do younger. If he comes back it will be an affordable signing. The WR Draft class is very thin for what we need. Way too many slot type kids. I say we go D and pick up a WR in FA or Trade.

I would love CJ and you are right, this WR class is too thin for what the Pats need. Perhaps Jon Baldwin of Pitt> 6'5" AND 225lbs. 4.48 40 and a leaper? Marcus Colson similar? Had an off year. Maybe around at #33.

Tony Simmons made Bethel Johnson look like Randy Moss. You guys want to complain about drafting, Tony Simmons is the poster boy for poor drafting.

The patience for player development in this forum is at an all time low. Really unbelievable.

I have a feeling we have Bethel Johnson II in Brandon Tate

lots of speed, lots of potential....rarely brings it on the field

Would not be surprised to see another WR bust here

Taylor Price may take his spot

Agreed. They say it takes a WR until his 3rd season until he is up to NFL speed. Tate just finished his first and people are already throwing out the B word.
