Nobody hates the move, I don't think there is one post where someone says that. People are simply questioning the cost to acquire a 31 yo receiver with bad knees , a large contract and whose average yards per catch the last two years are 9.7 and 8.6 and whose numbers have declined each of the last five years.

1. We don't know what the specifics of the contract are.

2. Injuries are a part of football.

3. He was playing in Seattle....with Matt Hasselback.

4. If trading one of two 4th round pick is going to make or break our draft, our problems are bigger than we think.

5. Nobody "hates" the move is not accurate. Several posters have said just that.

I dont mind this trade at all...

We have Ty Warren/ Bodden/ Kaczur/ Faulk Coming Back next year

PLUS

6 Draft picks in the first 3 rounds and 1 in 4th

Potentially, that is 11 additional players coming onto our squad next year...

Do we even have 11 spots?????

I think it is fine - we had an excess of players and picks

Every one of those guys but Bodden (and he's reaching there) are at the twilight of their careers. It sucks they went down but in a sense, it's almost a good thing because it's forcing the new guys to play. Honestly, I wouldn't expect anything from Warren, Nick K, or Faulk.

IRapp is reporting live on SportsHub right now that the 4th should be indicative of Seattle paying most of his current salary in exchange. A 4th is disgusting by itself, but getting salary relief lessens the blow IMHO. It's funny that they still wouldn't pay him his salary in the end.

It pains me to say it, but I'm gonna assume we draft a RB in the 1st two rounds this year and if woodhead and Lawfirm keep carrying the mail the way they are theres no way Faulk makes the team.

How exactly are they going to do that? I'm not saying it's not possible, but it's definitely not something you hear about that often in the NFL.

Branch and a 3rd for Moss and a 4th. That's an incredibly bad return that's the result of horrible decision making in the offseason.

See this type of thinking bugs me, you know why because I can go back to 1986 in the Cam Neely deal and show you how the Bruins got Milan Lucic and Nathan Horton in that deal. Please do not put 2 separate deals into one. It does not work that way.

Just saying what I heard man. That's all...

TD Moss as I type... great. ****

He must have corrected himself later because he said they don't do that in the NFL.

I'll put them together, because it's an obvious and appropriate pairing in this case IMO, but thanks for your take on it.

The Bruins traded for Lucic and Horton in 86'? Can you sign a kid to a contract?

No it is not a pairing in this and honestly none of the picks are connected.

Good one Mike! Couldn't have said it better myself.

A fourth seems about right to me but you have to wonder how pass-happy-Pete would give up anyone with anything left in the tank.

Naw, Pete is short on picks and fat on WR's. This makes good sense for them.

Did we overpay? Perhaps......... I'm okay with it. Basically it's Maroney for Branch and I'm pretty sure that when viewed in those terms, the deal is much more digestable. Meon was having an okay year so far, probably doesn't have many more years in the tank, but I do think you'll see a better receiver here then at Sea. Brady loves him.

Biggest benifit here beyond having some more veteran depth at the position is that Brady now has one of his all time favorate binky's back. Say what you want, I think that makes the trade worth it beyond the straight "value curve" side of it.

Welcome Back Dieon, lets hope your contributions make me forget what a monumental douche you were here your last few month. I'm willing to have an open mind if BB and TB are.

So here is how the Bruins got Horton through the Cam Neely trade in 1986

Bruins trade Pederson for Cam Neely and the #3 overall pick. With the pick the Bruins drafted Glen Wesley.

1994- Bruins trade Wesley to Hartford for 1st round picks n 95,96,97 (McLaren,Aitken and Samsonov)

2002-Bruins trade McLaren for Jillson and Hackett
2004 Jillson traded for Brad Boyes
2007 Boyes traded for Wideman
2010 Wideman traded for Horton and Campbell

Also with Samsonov your traded him and got a 2nd rd pick. That pick was Lucic.

Nice run ADP; anyone else thinking during that run: "Don't fumble!"?

(Edit: OH man, got my tabs mixed up. Wrong thread. Sorry!)

I find your assertion unpersuasive, but thanks for the follow up.

I really don't understand how anyone in their right mind could be against this trade. Oh wait, ya, guess I can. Pats fans who maybe aren't too familiar with this guy. A 4th for Branch and ppl are complaining?! LMAO!! Who cares what he did with Seattle. WHAT did he do with US?!

What do you guys want? Seriously? How many draft picks do we need? C'mon ppl, this isn't Madden ******* 2010. Looking back at it all, before Branch ever left, if you had told me "hey man, lets trade branch for moss." I'd tell you "**** off!" and I still will to this day.

Moss was great to watch. Loved the guy, still do, and always will. But seriously....Deion Branch for a 4th?! I'm so happy and I couldn't even begin to describe it. Hence the rambling thats already gone on in this post.

Welcome back to New England Deion. We missed ya. Now STFU, and just do your job!

So, looking like a red-shirt year for Price. Kind of a bummer. Well, like someone else said, it's all about 2010 at the moment.

wasnt Asante a 4th?

Also Jarvis Green, Wilhite and Sanders. As i said, we've done exceptionally well for value in that round to get 4-5 players including one starter out of 14 if my count is correct.

Somebody won the megabucks this week too, but it's probably still a good idea to put your money somewhere it gets interest than to buy lottery tickets.

I can understand concerns about his knees after the surgeries, but why are people complaining about his age? Branch is two years younger than Moss and Houshmandzadeh, one year older than Boldin, and two years older than Welker.
