Must Win Game on Monday?

I predict another 3 TD game for Brady. 1 TD for Moss, Welker, and Gronk.

Is it me or do you guys feel that this is a must win game on Monday?

If they lose this game then the Jets and Dolphins will Both be 3-1 and the Patriots will be 2-2 essentially 2 games behind each of them. I know its early to call this, but I feel that if they win this game they go to the playoffs. If they don't then they miss the playoffs. Simple as that. Anyone else feel this way?
Is that you, Tom Curran?

It may be early, but next Monday's Patriots-Dolphins game is crucial

With September not even concluded it may seem a little bizarre to be talking playoff scenarios. But with the parity in this division between the Patriots, Dolphins and Jets, there's little doubt that divisional records will matter when playoff tiebreaker time rolls around in January.

And next Monday night's game at Miami is massive for the Patriots and the Fins.

Already, the Jets are 2-0 in the East and - after next week's win over Buffalo - they'll be 3-0. Miami and the Patriots are both 1-1 with wins over the Bills and losses to New York.

The loser of next Monday night's game will be screwed in a couple of ways. With only six division games in the year, the loser will be two full games behind the Jets (presumably) and - having lost head-to-head, will actually be 2 1/2 games behind with three to play.

The Patriots haven't won a road game with Brady since 07. Yeah, that long. They need a win in Miami for no more of a reason than getting his monkey off their backs so they can win more of our other brutal road games this season.

I hadn't reflected on that. Even allowing that he only played less than a quarter in 08, that is a devastating stat. Thanks...I think.:(

Great and agreed...but that probably gets us half way there. :singing:

It is a must game for a couple of reasons

1 Prove you can win on the road

2 its a division game

Will it crush them if they lose??? no because this team is going to have growing pains, but with Balt , SD, and Minn commin up , it would be nice to get a much needed win on the road...

I am truly ASTONISHED at how many Chicken Littles have answered "Yes" to this GOOFY question!!

Championship Rate since 2001: 3 of 9. 33%.

Championship Rate when we started 2-2 or worse, since 2001: 2 of 3. 66%.

It almost is for a few reasons...

Division game ON THE ROAD where they have sucked

If the lose and go 2-2 into the bye..they then have to face the Ravens..could go to 2-4 even though they are very good coming out of the bye week.

how can a 2-1 record going into game four be a "crucial" win? It's important, for sure. It's a division game. It's a road game.

Too bad the Pats will most likely lose. Henne will look like Marino and Marshall will have a career day - as will the TE and the RB's. The defense can't stop anything. Not that Miami's defense impressed me all that much Sunday night. Brady could go all sorts of crazy on them. Thing is, Brady, historically, has some of his worst performances in Miami.

Anyway, back on topic. No, it is not a "must-win". It's week four. However, the alarming trend would continue and the media frenzy will be epic. PATS CAN'T WIN ON THE ROAD. DEFENSE CONTINUES TO SUCK.

I did not know that the Pats lost to Buffalo on the road last year?

Of course its also wrong, so maybe that makes it even more devastating.

-There are 12 games left after this week, how can this be a must win?
-Being 1 game behind a division opponent with a game left against them at home is about the smallest deficit there is.
-Why are the Jets credited with a win already when Buffalo beat them last year? They have to play the game.
-2-2 is not a terrible spot. Last season the Dolphins had a losing record, the Jets were 3-0, playing better than so far this year, then lost 6 out of their next 7. The Steelers were 1-2 then won 5 in a row, then lost 5 in a row, then won their last 3 to miss the playoffs on a tiebreaker. What things look like today and what they look like in Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan are rarely the same thing.
-This game is either a W or L and a division, road one. No more, no less

We won 2 games on the road last year and 6 road games in 2008. So i don't know how he thinks we haven't won a road game since 2007.

Well he said with Brady. And one win last year was at a neutral site that was pro patriots. They won one legit road game last year. He is right that they have to prove they can win on the road.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone think Sparano's new look:

Makes him look like the Weekend at Bernie's guy?:

I stand corrected, they won by 7, if memory serves, against the Bills. The overwhelmingly bad road performances as a whole last year made me forget that. (I am omitting the UK game because it's a neutral site).

My corrected statement; They have not beat a team with a record over .500 on the road with Brady since 07'.

But he was wrong when he said we haven't won one since 2007.

Brady could have too if he would have played it the way he did against Buffalo.

IF is what iam talking about. it was buffalo not the jets D. every team is different matchup .henne put up 15pts vs buffalo and 24 vs nyj doesnt mean buffalo D > nyj D.
