Pats holding private workout with Tebow

Can someone answer. Why would the pats draft a QB in the first two rounds? I bet BB has a rule in the draft room, "no qbs until round 3 or below".

What would be the point? Brady's got 5 good years.

You don't know that, he's accumulated injuries of late and his play might continue to decline. You also don't know if he'll necessarily want to resign with the Pats, since he's a West Coast guy he might decide he doesn't want to constantly fly back and forth, if he went that route he'd claim he was "doing it for his family". He also might demand a monster contract that would really hamper the team's ability to put together a top team.

Having a capable back-up is not a bad idea.

The funniest thing in this thread are your attempts to conceal your bias against Brady.

You said we needed to draft Tebow because Brady has lost his drive in another thread. Stop trying to be diplomatic here just to avoid being bombarded with criticism.

"What, am I not good enough for ya?"

Tebow just has that ruthless winner thing about him. I just cannot see the guy failing in the NFL. I think he will be a star at this level. I don't think we will get him though, I think the Jags will take him with their first pick.

I would love for us to take him, he is so versatile. I can see him being used as a TE, full back, tailback and second throwing option.

And if he can change his footwork and throwing motion like that in a couple of weeks, he can certainly be up to speed in another 12 months.

He would also bring hugley positive PR to the Patriots, not that I'm one to worry about that.

Agree with you RodThePat some people just want to hate on Brady wishing that he was not with the Pats he is like a son to Kraft and will be a Pat till he retires

What is untrue about what I wrote?

I'v never made any attempt to conceal that I don't like the direction Brady has been going in, after playing like he did this year I would hope that he'd be in Foxboro busting his behind to regain top form but he's not, I think we've already seen the best from him, even Eli Manning is training with his team right now.

I hope I'm wrong but he seems to be drifting more and more towards celebrity world and he certainly doesn't seem to have that fire driving him anymore. I can't blame someone for shifting their focus towards their family or other interests but if that's the case we shouldn't expect that we'll see anything close to 07 Brady again, which is why it's a good idea to look for a replacement.

Also, exactly what kind of leadership is he displaying by wearing that awful "TB12" hat? Old school Brady wouldn't have worn a hat glorifying himself, he would have worn a Patriots hat. I can't help but think that in the back of many player's heads they don't quite feel the same way about him.

the pats are not drafting him. he is a 2th round talent. that the pats are hopeing someone falls in love with and trades up to get him at #22 so they can get a 2th and 3rd round pick for #22.

You could be on to something there! I am thinking one of their 2nd round picks for a trade. Put it in the minds of the other GM's who think they can get him in the 2nd round that the Pats might take him! By all accounts from his Pro Day, he has made remarkable progress in a few short weeks. Have him as backup QB under BB tuteledge and in 4 years you might find a Steve Young to replace Joe Montana? Hire Zeke Bartkowski as a special assistant to continue his teaching to young Tebow. I could see that working! many possibilities.

My daughter would run right out and buy a #15 Pats jersey.

I think putting Bible proverbs on your eyeblack is pretty lame, but I won't lose sleep over it.

Oh and getting a tatoo that says Get Paid is ok!

BB better not blow a 2nd rounder on him. We need impact players not useless projects.

Amazing how a thread can go from legit, educated discourse to fingerpainting with rainman class in the course of two pages.

Tebow has winner written about him, however I am not sure what he projects to at the NFL level. I wouldn't want anymore than a 3rd round or 4th round pick spent on a clear project player if we do draft him.

It doesn't make sense given the pressing needs of the team to spend higher than that on a project player.

No question, D, you're spot on with that. I do think that Rogers is a far more natural QB than Tebow. When I see Tebow, I see a motion TE who can play some situational tailback lined up under center because he can chuck a ball 30 yards. He's physically a near ideal spread option power QB. I don't think he would be playing QB on a pro style team. Urban Meyer was one of the few coaches who didn't recruit Tebow as an athlete, and I think that meant something to him. What it tells me is that most college coaches viewed Tebow then as I do now. A great leader, a great football player, but ultimately he will be added to the team as an athlete.

I just wanted to follow up on this a little. You're absolutely right, IMO, in thinking that it's rare for a QB to be able to dramatically alter his mechanics at the NFL level. If he's going to try doing so, I've got to think that Tebow will be much better served going to a team that can afford to keep him sitting down for 2 or more seasons, just so his mechanics can become rote under simulated, but less intense conditions. If this kid gets thrown to the wolves the way guys like Sanchez and Stafford were last year, he'll be out of the league faster than Joey Harrington.

On the other hand, depending upon his mental take on blocking, he might be able to step into an H-back role, or receiving tight end role, somewhat more quickly. Whatever is decided, the interest around the league, and the country, will probably be pretty high for a while.

Do owners get a piece of jersey sales profits?

Wouldn't surprise me if Kraft drafted him just to rake in the profits from all the Pats Tebow jerseys

"Old school" Brady wore a New York Yankees hat.

Who the **** cares what hat a guy wears?

He's saying he's above the rest of the team by wearing his TB12 hat, when he wears a Yankees hat he's saying he's a fan of the Yankees, big difference.

Regardless of where Tebow gets drafted ... I hope he becomes a top 10 QB just to show the experts they don't know everything. I remember we drafted a QB once ... to play another position. He wanted to be a QB and he became an above average QB ... Rich Gannon.

Here's the bright side if the Pats take Tebow with one of their first 4-5 picks, I will seriously contemplate giving up on the Pats and stop posting on this site. This could definitely be the last straw for me.
