How did the Pats' 16-0 banner make this list and not the Colts' banner

I don't have a problem with EITHER of the Colts banners proclaiming AFC East champions because its an impressive achievement as winning the division always is,but the FINALIST sign is dumb.

An "AFC Finalist" banner is basically a big participation ribbon.

Re: How did the Pats' 16-0 banner this list and not the Colts' banner

And while we are at it, I'm sick and tired of every NFL Network Promo ad dissing the Pats by showing a Patriot player either getting knocked on his a s s or giving up a reception or something similar. They never show the Pats doing anything right; they only show the Pats in negative plays which must make all the Patriot haters very happy. Time for that *%&@ to stop, imo.
I hate that NFL films commercial.

Why does the Pats banner make the list and ones such as the Colts' banners, or any one of a number of NHL team's division championship banners not make the list? That's simple; espn is a for-profit business, not an impartial reporter of news. They make money through ad revenue, which is increased by more web hits (and more viewers and listeners.) Listing the Pats will achieve that; listing the Colts will not.

Whether they do or do not hate the Pats is a moot point; they're simply trying to increase web traffic, which will increase profits. The fact that fans still care about/hate the Pats is sort of a twisted badge of honor, and espn is just playing to their emotions. It sucks as a Pats fan for things to be that way, but as long as the team remains relevant that's the way it is going to be. At this point I just roll my eyes and shrug my shoulders at this sort of thing.

Remember those Bruins Adams division Banners.

I hated those banners

What made them even more lame was not that the Celtics only hung banners for NBA championships, but they had just as many league champion banners as the Bruins had division champion banners.

Re: How did the Pats' 16-0 banner this list and not the Colts' banner

16-0 is lame.
Well, there aren't many teams that have gone undefeated in the regular season, but that wasn't the question, if you'd check the first post. The question was, "How can 16-0 be mentioned as lame but not banners of WILD CARD?" Particularly since they are only up for games in which the Colts LOST the Wild Card Game. They have other banners for the division round, and even a banner for losing the AFCCG.

Or do you think it is more noteworthy making a Wild Card than going 16-0?

Honestly, they probably would have ran over two more teams. I've watched a good amount of coverage on that team for the past two years and they were just flat out dominant in the trenches. Combined with Czonka, I think they could have very easily went 19-0.

But they didn't, and I'm not taking anything away from what they did. We just don't know if in game 15 they get a rash of injuries. They went 17-0 and won the SB and that is a great season. But it was in a different era.

I actually think that in this era of Free Agency, the Patriots going 18-0 is a greater achievement.

That's the way it is viewed at the Homerville pub.

I agree with you about the Colts, but the Patriots 16-0 banner is lame. I cringe everytime I see it in the stadium.

I'm not a fan of the 16-0 banner, but it is far from the lamest banner in the NFL though.

Re: How did the Pats' 16-0 banner this list and not the Colts' banner

16-0 is lame.
Disagree. I don't buy into the crap that only a Super Bowl championship is an accomplishment. That's just a bunch of hype designed to make the fans of 1 team feel good and 31 other teams feel bad. And by the way it was EIGHTEEN and OH something neither the 72 Fins nor anyone else has ever accomplished. I'm proud of that and even more proud of the fact that the feat was accomplished during a media firestorm about "Spy-gate" that reached ridiculous proportions - imagine a US Senator trying to get a Senate panel to investigate the 98 Broncos salary cap violations. The fact that they fell just short, just 35 seconds and one fluke play short, of immortality does not in my eyes diminish the greatness of the 07 Patriots one bit, and we should remember them and celebrate that great season and that is why we have a 16-0 banner.

LOL

"AFC FINALIST"

hahhahah one of the funniest things I've seen in a while

What's worse is the Hartford Whaler's single Adams division banner that is still hanging at the Civic (XL) Center.

Let's put that in perspective. Wikipedia states that the NFL was formed in 1920. How many teams since 1920 have gone 16-0 in the regular season? How many teams have been AFC Finalists?
There's your answer for LAME. Would this writer be from Indianapolis?

That is Pathetic, really pathetic....AFC finalist. I'll have to remember this next year if/when we play the Colts. Its just another reason to hate them.

I'm waiting not so patiently for the NFLN to update their promo to included footage from SB 44. If Porter's pick 6 isn't in there, I'll be disappointed.

I hate our banner, get rid of it. We failed.

Made one minor change...

Celtics may not have a choice in what they hang up in the rafters- they are tenants in the Bruins' arena.
