King: Tebow a good fit for the Pats?

Lot of Tebow haters around on this board. Wonder how many of these folks were Rohan Davey or Michael Bishop fans?

Yes it was, Pass rushing is probably the biggest reason why the Pats didn't make the playoffs that year.

Maybe it was the Pats were without Tom Brady for the entire season?, that was the biggest reason why they didnt make the playoffs. In the games they lost they scored 13, 10, 15, 31 and 10. With the exception of the Jets game the offense is the reason for losing games in 2008.

They couldn't stop anyone on third and long, they had no pass rush. And the biggest reason they didn't make the playoff was because of an anomaly. They actually won more games that year (11) with Cassel, then with Brady this year (10).

Who do you see thats available in FA that would be a good fit for the Pats? There are not that many available.

there weren't many last year so they waited for taylor then traded for burgess rather than addressing it in the draft

Yeah, this season the offense was also the reason for the Pats losing most of their games, thats an issue for another thread.

Yes, in 2008 the Pats struggled on 3rd and long, but that wasnt the main reason why they didnt make the playoffs. You cant expect to win games in the NFL when you score 13, 10, 15, and 10 points.

they also had the easiest schedule ever in 08 (until the colts this year)

They did address it in the draft actually by taking McKenzie in the 3rd round. I personally would have drafted Matthews in the 1st round, but that draft is over with.

It has nothing to do with hating Tebow. It has more do with the facts that a.) almost no one believes he'll be a good quarterback in the NFL; b.) even if he does pan out, we don't exactly need a quarterback; and c.) we have serious issues at DE/OLB, ILB, OG, WR, and RB that would all take precedence over a potential Wildcat QB and/or TE conversion project.

Well, with Pat White on the roster, how many QBs can the Pats carry. Oh yeah, White was just last year's flavor of the moment which all the pundants had the Pats taking because Belichick was jonesing to incorporate the wildcat into their offense eventhough they have never ran a single play from that formation.

King on D&H: Fit for Tebow, Pats?

I really dont understand why him and others think he would be the perfect fit in NE. He isnt an NFL QB, we dont need a QB right now. We dont run any gimmick offenses like the wildcat, I dont understand why this move makes sense football wise. The only connection I see is the Meyer-Belichick connection which wouldnt be a driving force for the Pats to draft Tebow.

Also, King mentioned that the Pats would be looking at Peppers and Merriman. I just cannot see BB going that route, I see him getting the pass rush help he needs through the draft.

Ugh... someone please punch King in the nose for suggesting such a thing. I honestly can't stand Tebow and don't want him playing for the Pats. He will most likely be a bust anyway.

Almost no one believe's he'll be a good qb in the NFL? So, you just kinda listen to what the majority says, and go with it? As a matter of fact, there are a lot of people out there who think Tebow, if given time, will be a good QB in the NFL. Do some research and see both sides of the story.

I agree it would be a good experiment, but like you said we have needs that we need to address in the draft. If he is available when we pick in the 4th round, maybe I would consider it, but anything before that no way.

if we can get a third back. or let someone draft him, develop him and we sign him as a free agent.

This will be Tim on draft day when he gets chosen in like the 6th round by the Raiders (he could be the next Russell) or Rams. :D

Count on King to mention us in conjunction with every versatile player and 30+ RB.

Even if it's imagined versatility.

I have no issue with Tebow, I hope he pans out and has a sucessful career.

However, I am am awfully tired of the myth that Bill Belichick LOVES the Wildcat and wants to incorporate it into the offense. How many times can this be proven wrong before morons like King get it? Vick was available and we made no effort, Pat White got picked and the Pats didn't blink, Julian Edelman is on the roster and there was never a play ran with him as QB. The only time I remember anything Wildcat like was when Faulk threw that pass to Brady agaisnt the Fins in 01.

I also don't know where King pulls his info (well I do, and it rhymes with bass), but why would anyone have him on to talk Pats? Besides Tom Brady, does anyone on the team talk to him? Whenever you bring up Belichick to him on Twitter, he replies like a jilted lover because he never got the Exclusive Spygate Apology he was angling for the whole 07 season and throws a hissyfit.

Yeah, I heard King today on EEI and he sounded like a babbling idiot.

Yes, please, let's bring in a Florida QB...they have such a good reputation for their sound mechanics and decision-making abilities!

*stifles a laugh

lol I wasn't sure which QBs came from Florida so I just looked it up. Needless to say, I stopped at Rex Grossman. That was all I needed to know.

The Patriots have a 1st and 3 2nds, but no 3rds. If the Patriots are interesting in Tebow enough to use one of those extra picks in round 2 or, depending on where Tebow looks to be going in the draft, trading down into round 3 and then taking him, I've got no problem with that. Just as with Tate last season, I'll consider it a "flier" pick being used with the extra bounty available. However, there are some questions that I'd love to have answers for:

1.) What's his 40 time?

2.) .............

Wait for it...........................

Can he rush the passer?

mckenzie is a ILB, passing on matthews perfectly illustrates my point, thank you
