Michael Felger: Time to run Moss out of town

"anti-"

Means "not a fan". I'm obviously not anti the guy. I was just using the poster's own verbiage.

I don't like his running style and he's injury prone.

Brady's injury prone too. Just say you don't like the player.

I definitely went overboard on that comment, but the point I was trying to make is how subconciously that came into your mind to say because it was regarding Moss. Things that are highly unlikely to occur aren't usually stated like that.

The thing is because of his reputation which was largely created by the media, mailing it in is an unfair stigma attached to Moss' name.

Except again, I didn't based my assessment on the media. I have only thought he remotely mailed it in for two games as a Patriot and yesterday was the only game I thought it was blatant and went on for long stretches. He had bad games before this year where I never questioned his attitude.

Running him out of town seems a wee bit harsh.

Felger has been beating the "Moss is a dog" drum since Randy got here.

Up until Sunday I never felt he had a leg to stand on. But with the way Randy dogged it against the Panthers makes Felger's claims somewhat legitimate.

Although I'm sure BB and the Pats will do everything to fix this, but if they can't and Moss loafs threw another couple of Sundays, what choice will the Patriots have?

Felger must be having orgasms over this. Wonder why he really hates Moss?

So you do not believe that Randy's "reputation" has any effect on your opinion? You are able to 100% conciously and subjectively determine that he mailed it in? Have you ever thought anyone else mailed it in?

I have seen Moss mail it in in the past. I watched the NFC Championship Game with no media commentary mail it in. I saw him walk off the field with a live ball after an INT. I saw him walk to the lockerroom in an important game with 10 seconds left and a chance (although slight) to send the game into overtime. I heard clips of his radio show where he said that other Raiders players were mailing it in and he was too.

Sorry, I am intelligent enough to make my own decisions without the media shaping my opinions. I find most of the people on ESPN, NFL Network, etc. are a bunch of morons and that I trust the opinion of many of the posters on this board than I trust them.

I guess we just have different ideas of what mailing it in is.

Don't forget the Chargers game last year, where Belichick actually called out "the team" afterwards.

Personally, I don't know if there is any question about whether a receiver is mailing it in if a ball is thrown to him, intercepted, and, while the defender is still running with the ball, that receiver is walking towards the bench rather than trying to pursue the guy with the ball.

I also don't know if it is questionable that in a NFC Championship game after getting in a deep hole in the first quarter, a WR literally walking off the line of scrimmage on plays that weren't going his direction.

He quit on that play and shouldn't have, I disagree it is "mailing it in".

I'd have to see this to comment on it, but if it weren't setting up guys to make a big play then I would agree this is mailing it in for the game.

ProFootballWeekly.com - Moss' effort reflects bigger Patriots' problem

Nawrocki notes: "Belichick made a very bold move when he sent home Adalius Thomas, Randy Moss, Derrick Burgess and Gary Guyton after they arrived late for an 8 a.m. meeting trying to battle a winter storm on Wednesday. Mike Ditka, recounting a situation when Walter Payton was late for a meeting after getting pulled over for driving 110 m.p.h., questioned Belichick for not thinking through the decision fully or entirely taking into account the "intent" of his players. Tony Dungy openly voiced similar sentiment, mentioning having reprimanded and fining players during his tenure, but never sending them home. Belichick clearly was looking to send a strong message, and by rendering Thomas inactive after the player publicly criticized the coach, he sent an even stronger signal to the team about the need to pay attention to fine details and put the team first. Yet Moss, who always has taken some plays off and shown a tendency to cower in traffic, was at his worst against Carolina, when Chris Gamble shut him down with his physical play. Multiple drops, a lost fumble, disinterested blocking and lackadaisical route running that led to a Gamble interception defined Moss' day, when he looked much more like the disenchanted Moss of Oakland than the Pro Bowler he has been in New England."

I think Nawrocki's one of the best draftnik's out there, but I think he's all wrong on this one. Knowing that Mike Ditka disagreed makes me even more certain that BB did the right thing. He ignores the fact that the incident happened immdiately following a Monday team meeting in which BB stressed the need for players to put in more effort including longer practice hours.

To tell you the truth,Outside of Brady and Welker who are locks on the 2010 team, I think there is NOT ONE OTHER PLAYER on this team that is a sure thing or lock of being on the team if he does not play well the rest of the year....and yes, that includes Moss.

This is crazy talk. The Patriots will return most of the same defense next year. These guys are young, cheap, and talented.

On offense, I hope there is a big shakeup. Kaczur needs to get out of there. Vollmer needs to put at LT; Light can be cut to save a lot of cash. Sorry, but Aiken, Stanbeck, etc. are NOT the answer at third wideout. We need some guys that can come in and make plays. And can we finally get a tight end who can also CATCH the ball? It astounds me what Manning can do with Clark all these years. Brady has never had anything close to an elite tight end.

What I am trying to say is that no player on this team other than Wes and Tom are good enough to be considered 100% shoo-ins (well maybe Warren as well,Wilfork could be gone)

Well I ran Felger out of my time spent on radio/tv/internet. I'm still wondering how in the hell he is still not hired by ESPN

The thing I don't get is that even if Moss wasn't trying or was "dogging it" he is still producing better than just about anyone in the league and better than any WR that has ever played for the Pats. I'll take an amazing "lazy" WR over an average hardworking WR.

The fans at the game who were booing must have been watching a different game.

Moss was killing it yesterday.

He finally gets what he has been waiting for since Moss came to the team...

Our defense will stay the same I agree. Hopefully Wilfork stays, but I could see the team letting him go. AD is obviously gone, maybe Springs as well. I think we need to add a pass rusher whether its a DE or OLB, and we also need to add another DL.

On offense, the main concern is a 3rd WR. This could come from Tate, we have to wait and see how he turns out. It would be nice to find a decent 3rd WR in FA. The TEs arent a big part of our passing game. Our TEs have to also be able to block, Clark is not a blocking TE. Thats why they arent a big part of our passing game. Watson is a decent TE, he makes the catches when they are there. As for the OL, it is definitely aging and we might need to think about adding another linemen.

Volmer, Mayo, Warren, Chung, Butler...

Warrens locked up with us, and the other guys are have shown great potential and are too young to give up on

Ditka never came across as a particularly bright analyst to me personally. he fits in right there at ESPN

The only difference between you and Ditka is that Ditka has actually proved he is clueless running an NFL franchise.
