Thoughts on the Jets?

Can't recognize one of your own, dude? lol username shrek, because shrek is a green monster just like the Jets D yesterday! haha.

Dude, I'm a Jets fan. TJ was not that good yesterday. He was okay. In the first half he averaged approximately 1 ypc, which was abysmal. Leon was much more effective in the first half. I think TJ broke one or two runs, that's it. He has got to be better at picking up yards on a consistent basis. Like on first down in the first or second qtr, that would be nice. It's important to setting the tone with our run game and controlling the line of scrimmage.

I agree, and I was so mad at the running game, but alot of that was on his poor mechanics, if you noticed he got the hand off and danced a bit then hit the hole. A power back like jones can't do that he needs to get that initial pop at the LOS and get 4-5 yds up the middle. He waited too long and the texans caught on. Only when they started running him off tackle or around the end did he get big gains.

One thing that is good about TJ, and the rest of the OLine and the rest of the entire team for that matter, is that they are EXTREMELY well conditioned. In the post-game pressers with Rex & Sanchez, I remember Mark saying how he was shocked how un-fatigued the huddle was in the 4th qtr, while the Texans were busy sucking wind. He said no one was breathing heavy or lagging behind. They were all there in the huddle, attentive, and listening for the call. That is GREAT news, and should serve this team a bunch in the second half of games, as well as the later parts of the season.

to keep things in perspective, we didnt actually have to run a whole lot on defense, we were kinda just chillin in texans territory and denying them passage to the endzone haha.

TJ is always well conditioned, hes a monster. Someone on the radio today was talking about how the texans fans were flipping TJ the bird when he ran it in on the 39 yd run. and They were wondering what would have happened if TJ took a swipe at the fan like that kid from oregon did against boise state.....lol..all seriousness aside, if TJ punched anyone in the face, there wouldnt be a face anymore. in short, he has hulk arms.

If you think that Jenkins' performance was related to the center's recovery from injury, I don't know what to tell you; Meyers isn't the first center Jenkins has treated like that (in fact, I seem to remember him rag dolling Koppen once or twice last season). The Pats OL will have their hands full; whether they win or lose that battle will be the key for the Pats.

You seem to be downplaying the Jets simply because they beat the Texans; yes, the Texans aren't a great team, but when you can flat out dominate any NFL team the way the Jets did to the Texans yesterday, it's something special.

Like I said, I actually don't expect the Jets to win this week. But if you think it's going to be a blowout, you're flat out nuts.

If you don't think that having a center coming off of injury, and an injured QB, made it more difficult for the Texans to counter Jenkins and the blitz, and made a major difference in the game, I've got about 3 dozen bridges located in various deserts that I'd love to sell you.

Jets have a talented team, so I'm not surprised by how their entire defense and OL played yesterday.

Their defense has some studs on all levels. Jenkins in the DL, Harris at LB, and Revis and Rhodes at DB. More importantly, they have those studs going down the middle of the field (Jenkins at nose, Harris at ILB, and Rhodes at S). So those guys are always in the middle of the action. Plus you have Revis shutting down the opposing teams' top WR. The Jets also have some very good defensive role players. Pace and Ellis didn't even play yesterday.

They're OL is also very good. They run block with the best of them.

So I was not surprised that they played as well as they did. I am surprised with how well Sanchez played. He looked scary good. And before people start saying that it was the Texans' defense, it's still an NFL defense. And he played with poise and confidence of a veteran. Granted, we haven't seen how well he plays when he starts getting hit and becomes uncomfortable, however, you gotta give him credit for the way he handled his first start yesterday.

The only thing Jets are lacking is a legit #1 reciever. Otherwise, they're a very good team.

Do I think we'll beat them? Yes I do. We still have Brady and Belichik. As good as Sanchez played and how well Ryan got the team prepared, I still like our horses better.

But to discount what the Jets did yesterday is not being objective.

No grown man starting for an NFL team should have this happen to him, injured or not. Jenkins is just a beast.

Excellent post. I agree with everything except for one point. I think this team is good at the WR position. Not awful like everyone, including Jets fans, was making it out to be. Cotch showed yesterday he can be a good #1 target for the Rookie. Keller was a stud the whole day, and he is a big target over the middle. Stuckey continues to make big plays. So you ARE right about us not having a clear cut #1. But don't discount the WR's as a whole, they are pretty adequate altogether.

Yup and at the end of it and the start of another the Jets have to play Tom Brady and a team a little more skilled than the Texans.

Humility is underrated.

I don't want to bash the Jets.... OK, I do... so here goes...

the whole dumping Gatorade thing was just pathetic. Amateur hour on Broadway. Sanchez is going to eventually get a very hard welcome into the NFL. Probably 6 days from now.

And then the exact same media people worshipping him today will be bashing him tomorrow.

Nah.... I have critiqued Sanchez, but it's not as if he stunk out the joint. He wasn't "scary good" by any means. However, he was good moving in the pocket and he was able to capitalize on Texans screw ups. If he gets crushed next week, people will put it down as a learning experience.

You really can't admit Sanchez played really well? Did you see his third down playS? He was clutch.

More disgusting than pathetic. No one wants to see Rex with a wet T-shirt.

Jet fans...settle down and take things one game at a time. You (as a fan base) seem to have a tendency to place coaches in the hall of fame and your team in the superbowl way too early.

Take a deep breath and let the season play out.

If it makes you feel better I think your team has improved but we are barely out of August.

You are 100% correct. I just feel an added pressure for the Jets to do well because I named my poor kid Jett. Bad enough I got suckered in to rooting for this team. This poor bastard now has to walk around with this name. Maybe I should just change his name to Pat.

Well you could always just go neutral and use like Bob....

Why would I 'admit' something that's not true? He threw at least 4 picks, but the Texans only came up with one of them. He was terrible throwing outside down the field, and his deep touchdown pass came off a broken coverage. He was so shaky at the start of the game that the coaching staff had to change the passing plan and go to screen plays repeatedly so that he could complete passes and gain some confidence. Had the Texans not screwed the pooch on those picks, that would have been a completely different game.

He played like a first-game rookie, and there's nothing wrong with that. Making it into something it wasn't is not necessary. Just enjoy the win and expect that your QB will improve over time. That should be enough to make you happy for the potential future, and you shouldn't need to blow Sanchez' performance up into something it wasn't.

I hate the friggin Jets and all, but dude, you live in an imaginary world. If threw at least four picks, the stats this morning would have said 4 INTs. Coulda, shoulda, woulda.
