Is Billy Sullivan in? Did I read that Mr. Kraft had inducted him recently?

Trivia Time #24

Who are the thirteen members of the Patriots team Hall of Fame?
Bonus Question: Who were the original members?
Bonus Question: What numbers did they wear?

No takers? Okay, here are some hints:

The thirteen members include seven who played offense and six from the defense. There are two quarterbacks, two wide receivers, two offensive linemen, two defensive linemen, three linebackers, one defensive back, and one who played two positions.

The first bonus question is a bit of a trick question as it is improperly worded.

I wouldn't expect anybody to get more than one or two of the second bonus question right.

Answers: #73, G John Hannah; #40, CB Michael Haynes; #85, LB Nick Buoniconti; #78, T Bruce Armstrong; #20, WR/K Gino Cappelletti; #89, DE Bob Dee; #14, QB Steve Grogan; #79, DT Jim Lee Hunt; #57, LB Steve Nelson; #15, QB Babe Parilli; #56, LB Andre Tippett; #86, WR Stanley Morgan; #87, TE Ben Coates

There was only one original member: John Hannah

Billy Sullivan will be the 14th member but he has not yet been formally enshrined.

My hint included "two wide receivers" but that is a bit misleading. I glanced at the Patriots website and their list of HOF members and they have Ben Coates listed as a WR; he was a TE. However, you could argue that they actually do have two WR's; Gino Cappelletti was also a WR - I listed him in the hint as one who played two positions.

Great memory on those uniform numbers! Though I would have thought you would have included Haynes and Buoniconti, since they were on the previous question!

I struggled to remember Hannah's number, but eventually did.

And about the two from previous question, that is too simple for me/i lack common sense.

With the draft and rookie minicamp over, seems like it may be time to revive trivia

Bonus Question: What was the last home stadium the Pats played in prior to moving to Foxboro?
Extra Bonus Question: Where did the Pats play their first regular season home game?

No takers?

The first stadium opened as Schaefer Stadium - to the disdain of some in the media, as this was before sports teams routinely sold naming rights and was to the best of my knowledge the first to sell naming rights in the New England area. Later it became Sullivan Stadium and then Foxboro Stadium. The last game played there was the Snow Bowl (or, if you're a Raiders fan, the tuck rule game.) Gillette Stadium was originally, for a very short time known as CMGI Field; the name was changed before the Pats played a single game there.

The last home for the Pats prior to moving to Foxboro was at Harvard Stadium on December 13, 1970; the Pats lost 35-14 with Joe Kapp as QB against his former team, the Vikings.

The very first Pats regular season home game was played at Boston University's Nickerson Field on September 9, 1960, with the Pats losing to the Broncos 13-10. It has been reported that Broncos coaches came in to town a day early, walked in and watched Pats practices without their knowledge, and devised a game plan based on what they saw - decades before something similar would become a huge sports story in 2007 and 2008. The Pats coach at that time was Lou Saban, who would move on to the Bills a couple of years later and lead them to back-to-back AFL titles.

And yet even more Bonus Trivia: Nickerson Field is named after a member of the Boston University board of trustees, William Nickerson. His claim to fame? He was the inventor of the machinery used to make the first safety razor by - yes, who else: Gillette.

How many Pats players had at least 1000 yards receiving in 2008 for QB Matt Cassel, and who were they?
Bonus Question: How many Pats players had 1000 yards receiving in a single season 2001-2007, and who were they?
Movie Trivia: Name the actor/actress and/or names of that person's characters that appeared in both Caddyshack and Animal House.

1. Randy Moss and Wes Welker

2. Moss, Welker, Branch, Caldwell?, Givens?

How wrong was I!!!!!!

Caldwell and Givens I thought might have been suprise candidates. And Branch's best was 998 :(

2. Moss and Welker (Missing one or two)

3. Not old enough :D

3. Not old enough :D

Number one should have been easy but number two was a surprise to me. Matt Cassel in one season had nearly as many 1000-yard receivers (two: Wes Welker with 1165 and Randy Moss with 1008) as Tom Brady had in seven years (three: Moss with 1493 in '07, Welker with 1175 in '07 and Troy Brown with 1199 in '01.) Deion Branch just missed the cut with 998 in 2005. Nine players have gone over 1000 yards receiving a total of 13 times in Pats history; Stanley Morgan is the only player to do so three times up to this point.

The person appearing in 1980's Caddyshack as well as 1978's Animal House was Sarah Holcomb. She was Maggie O'Hooligan, the Scottish girl who worked at the country club and fooled around with Noonan in Caddyshack; and in Animal House she was Clorette DePasto, the daughter of the mayor who fooled around with one of the pledges and then reveals that she's only 13.

Holcomb was in two other obscure movies between Animal House and Caddyshack, and seems to have fallen off the face of the planet since then - never again appearing in another film.

The Replacements

Congrats to PatsChamp88; Brandon Meriweather led the Pats defense with four interceptions.

Gary Guyton led the Pats defense with two fumbe recoveries.

And congrats to WhiZa for recalling The Replacements, which starred Gene Hackman as the coach and Keanu Reeves as the replacement QB in the film based on the replacement players who took the place of NFL players that were on strike for three games during the 1987 season. Though the uniforms appeared to be similar to pre-flying elvis Pats uniforms, the team in the movie was known as the Washington Sentinels. Rumor has it that the rift between the character played by replacement quarterback Reeves (Shane Falco) and the regular starting quarterback was based on actual events that occured with the Washington Redskins 1987 quarterbacks Jay Schroeder and Doug Williams.

Dude, I am very impressed.

Well, maybe not with your spelling, but certainly with your knowledge of the Pats.

2.No Country For Old Men?

Far more impressive than what I was thinking of, since I did a poor job with the question. It was like asking 'who won the 2008 Super Bowl'; does that question mean the Super Bowl that took place in 2008, or the Super Bowl after the 2008 season?

No Country For Old Men did indeed win an Oscar in January of 2008, over the other 2007 films Atonement, Juno, Michael Clayton, and There Will Be Blood.

The winner in the awards that took place earlier this year for films made in 2008 was Slumdog Millionaire; the other nominees were Frost/Nixon, Milk, The Reader, and The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button.
