Trivia Time #12

Who led the AFC in yards rushing in 2008?
Who led the AFC in yards receiving in 2008?
Who led the AFC in yards passing in 2008?

Marshawn Lynch was my first guess then thought of Thomas Jones and Steve Slaton
Andre Johnson, I knew that right away
Peyton Manning or Jay Cutler, I thought Manning since he was MVP

EDIT: Fixed Order
EDIT2: NFC its Brees, Peterson(or Turner), Fitz

I am going to say Thomas Jones led the AFC in rushing as they had the two headed monster in Tennessee, LT and LJ had an off year and I just have a gut feeling about this one.

Andre Johnson has to be the answer....every Gameday final I watched this guy had over 100 yards every time.

I would say Phillp Rivers led the AFC in yardage with Vince Jackson emerging on the stage with Gates and Chambers. Jay Cuttler would have been my second guess.

Answers: Thomas Jones, Andre Johnson, Jay Cutler

The Jets' Thomas Jones led the AFC in rushing with 1312 yards, 30 yards more than Houston's Steve Slaton. Jones didn't really get a lot of media attention because he was only fifth in the NFL, 448 yards behind Adrian Peterson.

Andre Johnson led the NFL in receiving with 1575 yards; Larry Fitzgerald led the NFC with 1431. Brandon Marshall was 2nd in the AFC and 7th overall with 1265 yards; Wes Welker was third in the AFC and 9th overall with 1165.

Jay Cutler led the AFC with 4526 yards, with Philip Rivers next at 4009. Drew Brees led the NFL with his near-record 5069 yards.

49 against Oakland???

Answer: 49 points against Oakland

Congratulations to PatsChamp88 and Calciumee!

When I first thought of this question I was thinking it was Arizona for some reason; maybe it was due to the margin of victory. Second was 48 points against the Dolphins and third was 47 against the Cardinals, those three games coming in a five-week span just before the season finale at Buffalo.

I thought the same thing! I was really thinking Arizona at first because I enjoyed watching that game where as Oakland I didn't have the benefit of watching.

I thought Arizona aswell, but then I remembered the Oakland game being slightly more :)

Brandon Meriweather, just remember and I'm glad to see him coming around

Answer: Brandon Meriweather

Congratulations PatsChamp88!

After Mayo's 128 total (100 solo, 28 assists), Meriweather was next with 83 total (61 solo, 22 assists.) Vince Wilfork (66), James Sanders (64) and Mike Vrabel (62) rounded out the top five.

Trivia Time #15

How many offensive players did the Patriots select in the 2008 draft, and who were they?

Counting

3rd round Kevin O'Connell QB San Diego St. (If I recall correctly we traded up to get him)

I'm not counting

5th round Matthew Slater ST/S/WR UCLA because he played ST/Defense mostly at UCLA
UDFA(s) BJGE RB Ole Miss

Extra credit-congrats to PatsChamp88 for pointing out that Slater was not an offensive player in college; I had forgotten all about that.

Free agency has slowed down enough, I figure it's time to try this again.
Here's a couple that are more about another team than the Pats, but they've been discussed quite a bit here recently.

When was the last time the Chiefs made the playoffs?

Prior to last season's opening game, when was the last time the Pats played the Chiefs, and what was the outcome?

They played in 2006, lost to Colts in wildcard.

And I'm guessing they last played in 2005. But do not know the score!!

Sweet trivia is back too bad I have no idea on these questions.

When was the last time the Chiefs made the playoffs?
Answer: 2006, losing to the Colts 23-8 in the wild card round.

Prior to last season's opening game, when was the last time the Pats played the Chiefs, and what was the outcome?
Week 12 of the 2005 season the Chiefs won at Arrowhead 26-16 to advance to 7-4. Lawrence Tynes kicked four field goals and Trent Green hit Dante Hall for a 52-yard TD in the 3rd quarter to open up a 26-3 lead. The Pats scored two second-half TDs but it was not enough. Green was 19-26 for 323 yards, while Tom Brady was picked off four times and sacked three times.

In another bit of trivia, the Pats leading receiver that day? Tim Dwight, with five receptions for 76 yards. And the leading rusher? Patrick Pass had 8 carries for 26 yards; the Pats were without both Corey Dillon and Kevin Faulk for this game.

They played in 2006, lost to Colts in wildcard.

And I'm guessing they last played in 2005. But do not know the score!!
Excellent Memory! The '06 season was the first of Herm Edwards' three-year career in KC, taking over for **** Vermeil. Oddly enough the '05 team won one more game (10-6) the previous year, but did not make the playoffs. It was Edwards' only winning season in KC; he finished his three years with a 15-34 record as head coach.

Three of the last four times the Chiefs have made the playoffs, the lost to the Colts, and they now have a 5-game playoff losing streak. Their last playoff win was in '93 when they beat the Steelers and Oilers before losing to the Bills in the AFCCG.

Sweet trivia is back too bad I have no idea on these questions.
These were definitely not easy questions. At first I was going to ask when was the last time the Chiefs and Pats played, but I figured that might get me banned from this site. I guessed 2005 for the second question based on the NFL's schedule rotation, but did not recall this game. The two teams have now met 31 times in their history, with the Chiefs holding a 16-12-3 edge.

Trivia Time #17
The Pats are often commended for being a team that does not lose twice in a row.

In what year did the Pats last lose back-to-back games?
Whom did they lose to?
Whom did they defeat to stop the losing streak?
