I haven't read of any news of him visiting with other teams since he left the patriots. I think he knows of his past success in the pats type defense and would like to play here. Reports were the visit went really well I'd be surprised if his agent and the pats aren't still trying to hammer out a deal.

What's your guys take on what's been going on?

Hopefully it is about to be completed, but extremely hard to tell

Good question. The corridor toward a buyer's market is here. Every unsigned day is becoming less money. I wonder what the hold-up is.

I think the longer it takes the better the chances are of him becoming a patriot.

I alway's think that if they leave Foxboro without a deal chances are slim they are not going to sign. Usually when BB makes up his mind they strike hard.

That being said there have been some JAG fa's that have left and then signed but if they are as high on Bodden as I think, it probably would be done.

The last news of him turned up on Rotoworld on Feb. 27th, upon leaving the Pats facility.

Weird stuff, actually. Something's cooking, kiddies.

I tend to believe that the further out from the visit, means he is less likely to sign. Pair that with the Springs acquisition and I'd almost rule it out... That is, until I notice that he has not been visiting anywhere or doing anything since visiting New England.

yeah didnt expect us to go after 2 vet CBs but I could be wrong. I wonder if it was one of those "hey listen we arent going to pay top dollar but if you want to win this is a fair offer" conversations.

I feel like we do that with alot of players unless we are hot to trot like freddy taylor(ala stallworths deal a few years back)

Perhaps they wanted Springs over Bodden - and the Bodden visit was just in case Springs did not work out.

Of course my theory could fall apart due to the Time Line of the Springs release and when Bodden visited - I don't recall the dates of all the cuts, but it's just a theory.

My guess is Bodden is unrealistic about his expectations. He isn't even meeting with teams from what I can see. He is typically the type of guy who gets signed in the second or third wave of free agency when the harsh reality of the fact he isn't going to get a blockbuster deal sets in.

I heard that he's working out with Adam Seward.

Usually when players leave Foxboro without a contract it means a couple things

A) Each side couldn't agree on a contract (Years/Money)
B) The player wasn't happy in the role he would potentially be playing
C) Pats weren't interested in the player after meeting
D) The player wants to check out his other options
E) Each side is still working on the contract

However I haven't heard anything about Bodden being hosted else where which could mean the deal is still in the works. Just gotta sick back and relax and see what happens.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does JAG stand for?

The fact that he hasn't visited with any other teams could mean a few things.

1) His agent is still working on a deal with NE. Seems like a decent amount of time has passed for them to still be working on a deal, and it seems odd that he isn't trying to obtain offers from other teams (after visiting) to help weigh his options.

2) Something that I haven't seen mentioned is that he possibly could have some type of injury. If he took a physical for NE and failed, then he could be attempting to recover before taking any other visits, or again coming to NE. This is speculation, but I remember seeing other free agents disappear for a week or two after failing a physical.

The Shawn Springs deal is supposedly 12.8 million for 3 years.

I doubt this leaves very much money for signing Bodden.

Ha!

Bodden has a long way to go if he wants to catch up to Seward's 1,000 page thread in this forum. Maybe that's why he hasn't signed yet. The longer he waits, the more the pages grow. :confused2:

It depends on how its broken up....hopefully its somewhat backloaded.

Regardless, I doubt he sees the third year.

Next year appears to be uncapped, so that should give them room to make several more moves in FA if they feel they can better the team. I don't think Bodden would be too expensive to sign if they think he's a good fit

Do we knkow that the Patriots offered him a contract?

Is it possible that the Pats aren't interested in him and neither is anyone else?
