1. Name your draft binky and tell us why you like him.
I'm really starting to warm up to Shonn Greene as a power RB. He reminds me of a younger Jerome Bettis. I'm currently trying to justify how to take him for the Pats but I dunno if that will happen over a tight end. As always my opinion is subject to change after the Combine.
2. Name the player you think that the Pats should take at pick #23. Try to be realistic.
Right now I'm thinking the Pats take Alphonso Smith at #23. But this may change post combine.
Good thread.I hope for a Cassel trade to swap picks with K.C. and get their second rounder at #34, but for now:
#23-Sean Smith CB- a tall 6"3" (think-in the Cromartie mold), fluid athlete who has the possibility of being that shut down type corner as the scouts have suggested. He can also be put in to cover the other teams tall receivers on that particular side of the field that Hobbs nor Wheatly can do. (tell me this..Why are we going for another CB that we should have had completed last year, but instead took Wheatly and Wilhite who have been rated as incomplete and not quite busts yet. I know the Pats draft well and can't always hit a home run but the scouts who sold BB and SP on these two are poopy and two misses not just one). Here is who they could have had all around those picks. Some are starting and some not:
6. Brandon Flowers, 5' 10" 190, Virginia Tech*
7. Antoine Cason, 6" 0" 191, Arizona
8. Tracy Porter, 5' 11" 185, Indiana
13. Terrell Thomas, 6' 1" 200, USC
14. Orlando Scandrick, 5' 11" 190, Boise State*
16. Charles Godfrey, 6' 0" 209, Iowa
25. Chevis Jackson, 6' 0" 190, LSU
Enough venting. I would say my alernate binky at #23 is Rey or the Little Animal there.
My second binky;
#47-Clay Matthews ILB-Said he might be better than Rey or Cushing in the pros. Has size to be ILB. Side line to side lines kid. The best LB in the Rose Bowl. Solid ST guy. Can play OLB as well. Think Varbel. Good blood lines.
Third:
#58-James Casey TE. Thought of as a Dallas Clark type TE who can slip to the slot. 106 receptions. 27 reps yesterday on the weights. 6' 4" and 237 lbs.
Great off the field kid. 4.6 speed. A Watson type who can actually catch. Plus 46 rushes out of the Rice Wildcat called "Thor" (his nickname) for 6 TDs and 4.2 yard average. Played QB, DE and safety at Rice. Very smart. Mid second round considered pick. Mature at 25 years old as he was in the White Sox system. Can add another 10-15 lbs and with his strength could be taught more blocking methods. Perfect Pats versatility and character. A serious new weapon for TB.
I will throw in Nik Harris in the third round as our potential starting SS. Don't believe this OLB crap. Could play it as needed (versatility). Can cover very well. 4.5 speed. 6'2" and 233 lbs. He can thump. Also a great citizen.
