Division tiebreakers

Pats can finish 11-5 the either jest or phins can if we and they win out. I want SF to beat the Phins next week and then beat the jest then we win out. We then are number 1 in our div.

Phins need to beat Jest. We need to win out. they have the win over SD in common games we would have Arizona over them. the rest f the common games are won 4-2 in division. They have +3 vs AFC team we are +2 if the situation above happens.

The phins to loose once and beat jest is what we need to happen.

That being said, with the Jets losing today and the Phins/Jets having to play one another, the chances of each team finishing 11-5 are remote.

Or impossible.

Actually, with both the Jets and Fins' schedule leading up to that game, we may want the Jets to win that game. The Fins have the 49ers at home and then at KC while the Jets have the Bills and at Seattle. Since the Jets are already 0-3 on the West Coast, I am thinking they might have the better chance of being 9-6 or worse going into that game.

Oh man the haters are gonna be so pised of the patriots win the div. Ha ha, I can imagin jetnation now.

I was working the the Idea that both teams would win both games up to that game.

Ok Im getting kinda confused by all these posts.... what is the bottom line?
What do we need to happpen for us have a guaranteed spot in the playoffs?

Who owns the tiebreaker between us and the Ravens assuming that Baltimore loses one more game and we both finish 11-5?

Funny, I am trying to work on the idea that both won't. :D

Collinsworth is wrong.

If the Jets win out and the Patriots win out, we are tied in the division.

Next up: common opponents.

Patriots grab the spot.

Collinsworth has it wrong.

Actually, Collinsworth would be right. The Jets would be 5-1 in the division and the Pats would be 4-2.

Just tell me who to root for every week lol :bricks:

IF we are tied with Miami (both teams having won out) then Miami wins division by virtue of better conference record.

It's very simple. The Pats have two roads to the playoffs.

With the division, they need to finish with a better record than both Miami and New York because if either of those teams wins out, that team is in.

So they need either Buffalo or Seattle to beat the Jets or KC or the Niners to beat Miami. Then they need whichever team takes that loss to win its last game. So say Seattle beats the Jets -- we need the Jets to beat Miami. Or Miami loses to San Fran -- then we need Miami to beat New York.

The other route is taking the last wild card spot from Baltimore. Baltimore has some tough games left: Washington, Pittsburgh, Dallas and Jacksonville. If they lose two of those four and the Pats win out, they'll get the wild card spot.

Basically the Pats need to win out and they need help from Baltimore, New York or Miami to get in.

Either way, I'm proud of this team for fighting they way they've fought all year.

49ers could have a big say in deciding who wins the division, can they make it two in a row vs AFC East next week? Let's hope so. Then maybe Buffalo can upset the Jets, they always seem to play well in Giants Stadium.

That is incorrect jest would be 5-1.

However I feel that Arizona could kill out DB's they have 3 good receivers we may need some help from a few team a long the way. It's not an easy road to the playoff's for us.

Cardinals clinched the NFC West today..

That's a good thing.

Maybe we'll get the backups.

Sorry to complicate this post because it is a good one BUT if we end up tied at the top with the Jets at 10-6 we don't need a better record than them to win the division. If the Jets lose to either Miami or Buffalo, and we end up tied with them, we'd be division champions--as long as we don't lose to the Bills.

They may still be playing for the bye week.
