Wilfork should have been suspended. He poked Brandon Jacbos eye, his flying elbow hit on Bills QB JP Losman last year and now this. Dude needs to sit out a couple without pay.

first..I NEVER said Cassel was a bad QB...quite to the contrary..I was and still am more than willing to give Cassel the time he needs to develop into a good QB, which is what he is doing.

Jetdell is getting WORSE as his tenure continues...he's a kneejerk, Napoleanic bull in a china shop.

He IS a lifelong Jets fan

He IS a former Jet employee

He DID meet with Mangini the week before the Jets/Pats opener last year

He DID overlook Mangini's use of TWO cameras on the field versus the Patriots that BB asked him to remove.

He did DAMAGE the reputation of Bob Kraft, Bill Belichick and the Patriots organization with his obscene fine and forfeiture of a 1st round pick

He did sit by like a deaf mute the rest of last season as the media viciously attacked the Patriots from all sides, culminating in the rash of outright LIES vomited nationwide the week before the Super Bowl.

His Jet history is a BLATANT conflict of interest when it comes to handing down "decisions" concerning the Jets chief rival in the division. He should have left the "spygate/lie-gate" in the hands of an independent arbitrator.

The only thing "festering" is his rotten leadership of the NFL.

If on Sunday a colt does exactly the things that Wilfork did, this board would be screaming that a fine was insufficient punishment.

You play that broad generalization this board card all to often. There are a relative handful of vocal kneejerks on this board at any given time blathering inconsistently if not irrationally about any issue. What they do quite apparently is create a perception among some about the vast majority of us.

Honestly though, it sets a horrible precedent if Goodell suspended him. I would have been completely shocked if that came down.

Bingo. He came down way too hard with Spygate in the first place and that's the precedent he set up; his mishandling caused derision within the league and by hammering the Patriots he set himself up for every team who plays them to come crying to him hoping for equal or even worse punishment everytime. Now every media pundit, suit-happy fan, and losing coach who needs to protect his job will come popping out of the woodwork until GODell finally unpaints the corner he's gotten himself into.

The New Sheriff came into town blasting away, set up all kinds of rules,and now the ramifications of those rules and memos keep coming across his desk and will until the end of his reign. When it comes to the Patriots, there are still plenty of teams,coaches and players out there who still want to see NE fail. BB getting ousted or fired probably remains a dream come true for most if not all of the league.

Goddell never saw all this coming which makes him incompetent, ego-driven, and very short-sighted.

Speaking of toning it down, calling people names for expressing an opinion isn't very nice. I said nothing offensive or derogatory to anyone.
