The Pats squeaked by the Chiefs today at home. That does not bode well. The D is not one of the best in the NFL. They are good, but they have holes. Cassell stinks. Horrible opening day.
Ofcourse they can. Any team can win the super bowl. Except for the Jets. And St louis. And oh yeah, KC, who came one play from tying the game in the 4th Qtr.
If we have no more season ending injuries to starters and the team plays REALLY inspired football, we could claw our way back to the playoffs. SB ? The odds are against it. There are just too many teams that are hungrier and they will be playing with confidence.
I think this season will be fun to watch, in a way much different than last year, but lets not set unrealistic expectations. If this team falls in behind Cassel and plays its best football, they will be competitive.
Claw our way back to the playoffs? We are still miles ahead of the rest of our division. With Brady the division race is a joke, without him, we are still easily the best team in the division.
I agree, Andy. The Dolphins only came one pass away from BEATING the Jets. I was watching that, wishing (to shut up my Favre-loving buddy) for it.
Cassell did what we wanted Brady to do. Win. Why? Team effort.
Today, the Pat's were better than a couple of teams projected to be running at the SB.
Go team.
The Chiefs were one pass of tying the Pats.
Where the Dolphins facing a Jets team that had just lost Favre to injury?
we were up 20-7 and outplayed them thoroughly. We also played 3 quarters w/o a kicker which not only took points off the board it killed us in the field position game.
So the answer to my question would be...?
the answer to your question is no, but some are saying the Pats are going to put an improbable SB run together but have to go to the wire to beat the Chiefs. No kicker legitimately took 6 points off the board and gave the fins the ball at the 40 every time we scored

While your defense of a Jets team that almost lost the the worst team in the NFL last year is admirable, Favre was still the QB, and if The Kick Returner had the ball skills of even <gasp> Chad Jackson, the Dolphins would be 1-0.
The Colts lost to the Bears, the Chargers lost to the Panthers. Whats your point?

we are looking at 9 or 10 wins. if we catch a ton of breaks, we can make a deep playoff run.
but some of you are overrating the offensive weapons. Randy Moss is the 2nd best WR of all time, yes. but Welker in Miami - ie with an average or below average QB - was a JAG. Gaffney was on the street. Jordan was cut. these are guys who anyteam could have had for free or for a fairly small price tag. they all looked great with Brady.
Dude, are you from Green Bay? That last pass by Favre was absolute luck.
He's going to pull that crap against some real defenses and get cooked.
And thoroughly outplaying a team would be us against the Bills last year, not winning by six points.
Too much talent, too good coaching, and now a legitimate "chip on their shoulders" to play with. Anything's possible...
There's clearly enough talent to win 11/12 games. We'll see what happens...
