OT: Spam Alert - Watch Your E-mails - New England Patriots Forums

I've gotten notifications from a few people where there appears to be an issue with a plugin with vBulletin that I haven't been able to pinpoint yet.

Something along the lines of the following:

This is a message from username ( mailto: ) from the New England Patriots
Forums - PatsFans.com Patriots Fan Messageboard ( New England Patriots Forums - PatsFans.com Patriots Fan Messageboard
).

The message is as follows:

I earned $106.66 so far by taking 6 surveys! They only took 12 minutes each

If you've received spam from here please let me know as I'm continuing to try and locate the issue, and please post the timestamp of when the message was sent. No information was obtained from what I can tell, they're just spamming the e-mails.

I apologize, and obviously I'll get it resolved once I pinpoint where it came from.

A follow up, it doesn't appear to be a hack, more of a random abuse of the e-mailing member function that allows members to contact others via e-mail. For the sake of preventing it in the future I've disabled this function as most of you use PM anyway.

I don't think that I've ever used the email function, but the PM has come in handy on many an occasion.

BTW: Thanks for the solid work you do keeping this great site going.

I hear that. I have a blog of my own that has been severely neglected for a couple months. Buying a new house, moving, health issues and work have all conspired to take up most of my time.

I'm happy I can get to here and a couple other places sometime during the day.

AVG warning a minute ago that patsfans.com has content from cdn3.sbnation.com that showed up as a site that distributes Malware 9-16-2012 7:00 a.m.

Whatever is on the site from them should probably be removed. If it matters, I was looking at the main board in the thread on the Cardinals game.
