Tavon Wilson:

Not too many people were pleased when the Patriots drafted Tavon Wilson during the second round of the 2012 draft, yet Wilson remains in the league and found a new home on Monday.

The 6’0, 200-pound Ohio State product is as tough as they come, being a former member of the US National Rugby Team. While a Buckeye, his prowess on kickoffs is stuff of legend as he was compared to “a heat seeking missile.”

Wilson has made his mark as a reserve, playing mostly dime linebacker in the ‘Big Nickle’ sub-packages or on Special Teams.

In the Pats big nickel, they bring in an extra safety (Duron Harmon) to play an extra defensive back to go along with Chung and Devin McCourty.

The Patriots defense is still very much a work in progress after three games. But with a nice blend of youth and experience, the unit will improve each week
