One of the last remaining questions for Wild Card weekend would be who the final match-up would be next weekend after New England beat the Chargers 16-3 on Sunday night football. Following Houston’s 30-6 win over the Steelers, now we know.

One of the biggest issues the Patriots have quietly dealt with all season has been the absence of defensive coordinator Terrell Williams, who has been battling prostate cancer.

“We play a lot of guys on defense, and I think that they all appreciate that, and I think they all have roles.”

Patriots quarterback Drake Maye had a tough start to this one, with Maye battling for a good portion of the first half to deal with what was certainly a relentless Chargers defense.

The last time the Patriots won a postseason game, there was only one touchdown in the game, it was the Patriots that scored it, it was against a team based in Los Angeles, and it was in the fourth quarter when it was scored.

“That’s the biggest thing. Trust what you’ve been doing. Trust the preparation you’ve been doing all season. – Drake Maye said.

Sunday’s showdown between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Chargers shares one interesting similarity when it comes to both football teams.

Looking at Sunday night’s showdown against the Chargers, the Patriots head into the postseason quietly having done one key thing that often decides how far a team goes in the playoffs. They’re playing good football, and they’ve been improving week-to-week during the path that got them to this point.

Despite being in the playoffs, April’s NFL Draft will likely come quicker than most of us expect.  This is my 1st attempt at a Mock Draft for the Patriots.

Looking at the Patriots Snap Totals over the final couple of weeks, it’s been interesting looking at the defensive side of the football, where Marcus Jones has seen a dramatic drop off in playing time.

Okay, so the Patriots just missed out on the top AFC seed. Get over it. It’s playoff time, and the Patriots are back on the NFL “A” list.

“The only wins that are gonna matter is gonna be the ones we can get moving forward. We’ll get ready and do what we do every week.”

From the outhouse to the penthouse, the Patriots convincingly dispatched the Miami Dolphins 38-10.  The Patriots finished off the regular season with another dominating win against an undermanned Dolphins team to complete a 14-3 regular season. 

The Patriots woke up from the slumber in the second half en route to a 38-10 victory and the two seed in the AFC. Drake Maye put forth his claim to league MVP while Rhamondre Stevenson got the touchdown hat trick.

After the Steelers pulled off the upset against the Ravens on Sunday night, the NFL announced the schedule for next weekend’s Wild Card Weekend matchups.

Sunday’s win at Gillette Stadium was New England’s 14th of the season, with the team flipping the script after a 4-13 campaign last season.

Coming off a season where Maye finished with 2,276 yards passing along with 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, 2025 has certainly been a remarkably different story.

Way back in Week 2, Maye carved up Miami’s secondary, going 19-23 for 230 yards and a pair of touchdown passes along with a rushing score.

The 7-9 Dolphins have nothing to play for.  They travel to New England in the dead of winter for a game that means nothing to them. 

Maye leads the league in completion percentage (71.7), yards per attempt (8.9), and passer rating (112.9) in 2025. 

Maye completed 19-21 passes for 256 yards (12.2-yard average) with five touchdown passes for a passer rating of 157.0.

Some thoughts coming off the Patriots’ 13th victory of this 2025 NFL season.

The New England Patriots are AFC East Division Champions.  The 1st day of practice on April 7th, Head Coach Mike Vrabel addressed the team and said his goal is to win the Division.

Hours after their 42-10 blowout win over the Jets, the Patriots apparently spent the journey back to Gillette Stadium keeping an eye on what was going on out in Buffalo between the Bills and Eagles.

Maye was magnificent, completing 19-21 for 256 yards with five touchdown passes to five different receivers for a passer rating of 157.0.
