One of the biggest topics of discussion following Tom Brady’s retirement and his subsequent Patriots Hall of Fame induction was whether or not the team would place a statue out in front of Gillette Stadium in his honor.
It didn’t take long for Patriots owner Robert Kraft to answer that question, with the Patriots soon announcing one was coming, but no details were given at the time about when it might be constructed and unveiled. Some speculated that it might come at some point during the 2024 season, but that obviously never happened.
Now, it sounds like we might finally have an idea.
ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported on Sunday that among the key dates once the spring practices end this week, in addition to the start of training camp, will indeed include the unveiling of Brady’s statue outside of Gillette Stadium later this year.
Kraft said previously it would be a 12-foot-high bronze statue that would “perpetuate the legendary legacy of this once-in-a-lifetime player.”
It’s only fitting that Brady, who is clearly the greatest quarterback to ever play the game, will join other NFL players with statues, including Peyton Manning, Dan Marino, Barry Sanders, and quite a few others.

It will place a nice bookend on a player who obviously meant a lot to this region and helped kick off an incredible 20-year run that included six championships.
Brady has always credited his teammates for his success, which he summed up well the night he went into the Patriots Hall of Fame.
“To my teammates, 20 years’ worth, I wish I could mention all of you by name, but I’d be here all night,” said Brady. “Please know the incredible impact you had on me by pushing me and us to play like champions every single day. Every stitch and every thread of this beautiful red jacket is woven together by the experiences and adversities we endured. Every single one of you made my life better.”
Now the only question is when his statue will be watching over the stadium where he dominated teams during his incredible career. Fortunately, it looks like it won’t be long before that finally happens.
