We are not even halfway through the 2007 season and there is little gained from various scenario's on the Patriots season. But as I watched the Red Sox edge closer to their second World Series, I couldn't help considering one big "what if".
Let me preface what I'm going to say by asking you all to be honest with yourselves and admit you've felt a certain wonder over what has been happening in the New England sports universe. Thursday night, Boston College pulled a "Flutie" out in the waning seconds of their game against #8 Virginia Tech. I've even admitted to myself I'm going to watch the Celtics this year and New England is bracing to explode after the Sox finish off the Rockies.
The Patriots are loaded to the gills with both talent and motivation as we try NOT to think about the game against the Colts next week...c'mon people! Admit it! There seems to be magic in the crisp fall air of New England this year.
I refuse to go through all the various champi.....I can't even say it! I just know I'll jinx something or other and I can't take that kind of risk because I can almost hear you all silently thinking "Don't you dare say it! It's one game at a time man...!"
And this year, it's "one sport at a time" too! I'm freakn' giddy here but I'll supress it with all my strength and just watch tomorrow's Patriots game...oh, yeah, and the Sox too!
One final thought. If 2 or 3 or 4 of these scenarios come to fruition, will that automatically make New England fans more arrogant & rude? Or, is our rudeness just a function of our reasons to celebrate? Non-New Englanders, forgive us our joy. If you were us, you'd feel the same way!
Oh well...we needn't fuss over things that may never happen.
