... will reporters continue to ask variants of this question? What is is about Best Player Available that they refuse to acknowledge?

Was the intention to come out of the first day with this much offense?

"The intention was to come out of it with three good football players. I don't think you can be too picky about, when you're drafting best value players, it's hard to be picky about position. If you're drafting need positions, then sometimes you give up some value and try to balance those out. But we tried to get players who we think could help our football team and that's why we picked them."


In his pre-draft press conference he explained why drating for need was a bad idea (taking the best LB available, etc).

It is fairly simple. If you continually draft players whose value is greater than the spot where they are taken, it is like getting every one of your draft picks moved up a round.

(This does not mean you don't fill needs. It simply means seeing who will have the biggest impact on the team. Like drafting Carl Banks the year or so after LT was the example he used.
