If and when the Patriots were to impose the fines on Deion for not showing up to work, does that in any way affect our salary cap status?

I don't believe so. The cap hit is already set. Fining Deion just keeps the money out of his pockets.

Fines have no impact on the cap.

However, I suspect that we will get a credit towards next year's cap for any game checks forfeited during the little weasel's holdout.

Ok, great. thanks for the info.

Not true. For each week Branch misses the Pats' 2006 cap gets a credit.

Interesting. That means that each week that Branch doesn't show up we get a credit of 62 or so thousand dollars to the cap. Should we need to sign a player due to injury in week four or so, we'll have that much more room this year because of Deion's shenanigans.
