Patriots HOF nominees

Senseless.

I compare Mike to Steve Zabel, who likewise came here from another team to make a huge contribution, including with the [should be] championship 1976 team. Also, likewise, had 10 career receptions as a tight end (with Philly). Team HOF?!?!?!?!?!

Bruschi. Harrison. Faulk. This is nothing but a popularity contest.

Adams obviously belongs in ahead of all of the above.

Tatupu is at least all their equals.

Drew Bledsoe played here nine seasons, going to three Pro Bowls. In Pats' Hall.

Russ Francis played here eight seasons, going to three Pro Bowls. Not in Pats' Hall.

Bledsoe is at the level of maybe Marc Bulger, or Neil Lomax.

Francis was better than Dave Casper, who is in Canton.
My man, I give you credit, you are consistent.

Bledsoe deserves to be there. He is not Bulger or Lomax, that's just wrong.

I love Mosi Tatupu as much as the next man, but c'mon.

Francis yes, 100%

Julius yes, 100%. The fact that Mankins is ahead of him is nothing but recency bias.

Vrabel I'd say yes, and he's much better than Steve Zabel. I will grant you that there's recency and championship bias at play here, but he was key in winning 3 rings.

Eff Asante Samuel.

The Julius thing is really really perplexing. Very weird that Mankins would be ahead of him.

I actually have no soft spot at all for Mankins.

I can think of several others who go ahead of Mankins. Heck, I'd put Lawyer Milloy and Roland James over Mankins.

I voted for Vince!

Parcells had a .500 record with the Patriots. And abandoned his team during Super Bowl week. And showed utter disrespect to Terry Glenn who led the team in receptions in both 1998 and 1999. And was a douche bag to Belichick when he stepped down with the NYJ. And never won a playoff game with the Cownoys. Let the Giants honor him.. Not here.

I'm somewhat on the fence regarding Parcells but if push came to shove I'd choose a player first. Tuna did a lot to restore the franchise's legitimacy despite things with him ending poorly.

I'm equally in favor of Adams, Wilfork, and Welker. This year, it should be Adams, because his candidacy is aging.
Welker redefined a position for the entire League.
The idea that Vrabel is even in the same conversation makes no sense to me. He was a good LB while here, never great. The TD catches don't matter in this vote - that was more about scheme and surprise, and if it wasn't him, it would have been someone else.

My thoughts exactly.

The Only way that Mankin$ should Ever be in the NEP HOF is with a ****ing ticket... It's a ****ing Disgrace that he's been nominated ahead of Julius Adams, Russ Francis, Chuck Fairbanks and even Mosi.

Does the New England Patriots HoF need a senior committee? There are a bunch of old time players worthy of enshrinement imo... Quite frankly they get overlooked because the typical Pats fan was born the year the dynasty started...

I think there should be one... Elect a veteran player every two years... Can set eligibility requirements, can limit how many times a player can be a finalist on the senior card... can set the voter approval at a higher rate - if it normally takes 75% of the vote to get in a senior nominee would require 80, or 90%, or whatever level is deemed appropriate... All valid ways to make sure the quality players from the past are honored, yet still keep the exclusivity of the HoF intact...

Um, okay, he's...Kerry Collins. Or Jeff Garcia.

I love Mosi Tatupu as much as the next man, but c'mon.
The impact of superlative special teamers has gained attention this century, from Steve Tasker to Brian Mitchell to our own Larry Izzo.

In addition to his ST play which is comparable to future Hall of Famer Matthew Slater, as a fullback Mosi rushed the ball 612 times for 2,415 yards and 18 touchdowns; in the 1983 season he led the league with 5.5 rushing yards per attempt. He caught 96 passes for 843 yards and two touchdowns for his career.

His hit on the Raiders' Sam Seale causing the fumble which Jim Bowman fell on in the end zone to win the divisional playoff at the Mausoleum is one of the greatest plays in team history, but merely typical of how he played in his 13 years here. Mosi belongs in any legitimate Pats' Hall.

Well, only three of Steve's catches went for touchdowns. Wait, did Mike kick any extra points? Zabel had one.

Mike could get to the quarterback. I was thrilled when we got him; he sacked Drew to clinch the Steelers' rare playoff defeat of us.

Dreith, Tatum and Sullivan were not the fault of any of our players or coaches.

Well, he did go to six Pro Bowls with us.

...Who was his quarterback?...

BB says Logan is the best offensive lineman he ever coached. Evidently, he considers Mankins to be better than Bruce Armstrong.

To employ one of Robert Kraft's favorite references he uses to dismiss our history, from 2005-2013, There Were No Championships.

I will acquiesce. There's some parallels to Slate's game.

Why any writer gives any credence to Asante Samuel is beyond me. Maybe they can't come up with a real story.

Right, you're mostly agreeing with me on the Patriots angle. However, he got Drew Bledsoe to a Super Bowl, which is miraculous.

The Cowboys were garbage when Parcells got there and he got them to the postseason with Quincy Carter. Throughout his career Parcells won with mediocre quarterbacks. He would have a handful of SB rings had he had a HOF quarterback with him.

After what Bill pulled here before the super bowl he should be removed from consideration. We very likely would have lost regardless to the superior Packers team, but it didn't help at all. I appreciated the foundation he laid which would make us champions later, but that was never his intention. In fact the intention was to have a coach who would lead up to the promised land to stay out of New England.
Defense only he drafted Willie McGinest, Tedy Bruschi, Ted Johnson, Ty Law & Lawyer Milloy.

Drew could throw a football. He deserves credit for racking up all those yards.

However, there were clear indicators in his previous three playoff games, that he needed to be protected in the '97 Super Bowl.

Protected, as in handing the ball off to Curtis Martin 30 times. At least.

Drew Bledsoe is simply a case of a player whom media, coaches, teammates (and ownership) thought he was something that he never was.

you may not know the name but the play lives on in infamy. lol

Wasn’t that dude a felon or something too? which makes it even funnier

Dunno why you’re mad Mankins wanted to be paid. He was an awesome player and was a mean SOB. I don’t think he should be in the ballot rignt now, but he’s certainly deserving some day. Mankins is probably in Canton if he played for the Steelers.
