If OBJ is released by the Browns and is unclaimed, do you want him in NE on the cheap? (Update: Signed by Rams)

They're making educated guesses and then deleting what doesn't happen. Being first is easy when you don't have to be right.

It's possible, but I wouldn't dismiss them outright either

you have no clue who the jackass is behind that account. Yes they can be dismissed outright.

I'm going to remain on record as saying I think this is a bad idea. Talented as he may be, his complaint on the Browns was Mayfield not throwing him the ball when he was "open" (which I only put in quotes because I haven't personally watched any tape to confirm or deny it). Mac has been good, I'm really happy with his progress as a rookie, but he's still a rookie. Could they get him to be a good citizen for half a season? Possibly, but it's a risk. If he does sign here, I will obviously root for him and deny all of this ;) But let it be known I will not be disappointed if he signs elsewhere.

Dude, I posted it as a FWIW. The whole thread is literally filled with tweets from unverified sources. You should know by now to take them with a grain of salt. No one is claiming the NFL Rumors tweet is 100% legit. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't.

Is this account legit? While it doesn't have a blue checkmark seems to have a lot of followers. OBJ might not be an elite WR anymore but even a top 30 WR upgrades this offense a lot.
This account also recently posted that unicorns and the tooth fairy are real and that "love and peace will guide the planets" according to their sources

How is it a risk? The minute OBJ acts like a diva, he's gone. At worst, we are out some chump change for the season.

I hear you but I'll counter as saying OBJ will receive strong coaching and discipline here. If his behavior, performance and attitude are not aligned to the NEPs team-first culture he will not play and be released.

I see no reality in which BB allows OBJ to **** with Mac's head.

Bill is not going to keep him around for long if it doesn't work out. And we won't be paying him too much either. As long as your work hard, Bill is will keep you around - look at Harry. Bill has a good track record with "divas" like Moss, Revis, Dillon, etc.

The closest thing I can remember to a midseason pickup destroying our locker room is the Antonio Brown situation clearly upsetting Brady. And that was about us NOT keeping the midseason pickup.

I see all of your points, but that's exactly what happened with Brown and it DID end up hurting us. Some of those circumstances are not applicable anymore, but there remains a risk of upsetting the apple cart. This team needs to gel, and obviously the best case scenario is they gel WITH a motivated OBJ. But adding him for a few weeks, then having to cut him for behavior reasons is a disruption to that process, and would have more weight than you're implying, IMO.

It didn't hurt us. We had nothing to lose. Brown f-ed up and he was gone.

Brown left and it was back to where they started

I am in Cleveland and have watched this bum for parts of three seasons. The Browns just signed Isaiah Zuber to the practice squad. Would rather see Zuber on the field than Beckham.

And it was at that very moment that Mankok the rookie lost all of his credibility.

I think it had more impact than you're letting on, but the situations aren't apples and oranges so I won't die on this hill. I just don't think this is a no lose scenario, nor do I think adding him is a cure all for the offense's problems. OBJ won't improve the OL play (which has been improving on its own), he won't be the reason Mac makes better reads (which again, he's getting better at it on his own, but will still have rookie moments), and he won't clean up the procedural problems and penalties.

The Brown situation is not a good comparison for the simple reason that the team was more upset because Brown was cut, not because he was a malcontent or a diva. He was FAR from being a malcontent on the team, a fact that he has demonstrated in his stay with Tampa Bay- he's not been in any sort of trouble since.

Fair enough on the brown/obj differences

I think OBJ still deserves special attention by the D which by default creates more space for receivers, takes a little bit of pressure of Mac to race through his reads because of protection issues.

That's a fair point, and a not insignificant distinction.

I won't argue your second paragraph there. When he's pulling in the same direction as everyone, he has a skill set that no one else on this team has currently. There's no question he would be a benefit to this team talent wise. And I certainly won't be calling for BB's head if they sign him. Just voicing some concerns so people can make fun of me later if he signs and works out great :)
