Hate to be pessimistic, but I'm pretty sure we're going to get hammered. The fact that it is dragging out and the fact that the media is now shaping public opinion back against the Patriots both point to a harsh punishment.

We shot ourselves in the foot here. Giving the chance to NFL to go after us - is our fault. I agree it was an innocent mistake but this is Goodells NFL and we know his past history with us - why mess with it. Need to be more careful and this was an unnecessary distraction to say the least.

It's almost like they should be punished just for stupidity. Patriots employees shouldn't even be allowed to buy a camera on Walmart even for vacation purposes.

Yet, these guys go there and film the next opponent the Pats will face when the Patriots lost 2 in a row and there's a playoff spot at stake.

The whole thing is just so stupid that I believe in BB that he knew nothing about it just like the whole football ops staff. The simple and first explanation is fair enough that you can be convinced that it was a very naive mistake, but is that thing, if it's the Steelers I'd be saying, it looks like cheating, it sounds like cheating, it smells like cheating so it must be cheating.

I was pretty much ignoring this.

Until Fox showed the video of Bengals security confronting the guys...

"I don't see your advance scout in this footage"

"No, its not, we are trying to get some field perpsectieve. Thats my bad."

"Thats not the field"

Yeah that's gonna be a decent penalty. Especially as repeat offenders.

In other words it's a fake news fake scam. Typical media and losers will use lies and spin to suit their agenda. The Patriots need to compel this guy to speak up if its totally innocent mistake.

Who is this? Why is a Jets fan here?

The guy’s team tampers in’97, his owner offers to hire the new commissioner to help figure out ways to slow down the Pats
with framejobs and rule changes everywhere, and thinking you can lie some more?

Your team tampered with ours on numerous occasions and almost nothing happened, as a repeat offender.

Who do you think you are posting here, lying about how little is on the tape with some rent a cop Bengals employee acting unprofessional, and then commenting here?

Your organization is a pathetic, cheating joke that started all of this knowing they blew it letting BB get away.

Relax, he’s harmless and good for some much needed comedy around here.

Cincy obviously chose those 45 seconds of footage, meaning that the right context could potentially change a lot if we knew what else was on there.

If one is to believe that they were purposely taping the Bengals (last loss vs CIN 1994) then one must assume that they did that to everyone, and I think we’d have heard little whiny pissy-pants reactions before last week.

They dont shoot these productions in a linear fashion. They chop them up and edit it all later. This is not remotely surprising to me to have several minutes of sideline footage that gets edited down to 30 seconds for the show. The idiocy was doing this with the past situation and current rules.

The Bengals are raising a stink because number 1 it IS against the rules and number 2 they have nothing else going for them so knocking the Pats down a peg on behalf of the league is a feather in their cap.

They need a commissioner that does what's right and fair, not one that kowtows to the most powerful owners, Goodys a joke and always will be while hes in charge.

That’s an excellent question. All he does is come here to troll. I cannot for the life of me understand why none of the mods have banned him - or at the very least banned him from the main forum.

The Pats allowing themselves to get in this mess is just unbelievable. Of all the brain-dead things to do. Surely they aren’t surprised the rest of the league does not believe them, although they are likely being truthful.

Exactly. Sorry to say - this falls on the Pats. After being penalized for doing this before - they do it again. And it might be innocent but it’s against the rules and they should have known better. Kraft has really dropped the ball here. This has the feel of deflategate. Doesn’t seem like the investigation is ending anytime soon.

True. I'd imagine that's what the investigation is focusing on.

This is the typical uneducated person's response - jumping to conclusions before thinking. Sorry Jete fan, it was 1 minute out of a lot of video footage that included the scout.

Man this tape is bad, the Pats employee saying my bad is a smoking gun.

It doesn't matter if that cut on the Glazer segment is out of context or etc... If the whole video was those 20 seconds that's already pretty bad. There's 8 minutes of tape.

Be ready to have another draft pick confiscated

It's not actually bad to anyone who actually reads and looks at facts. It is however how they handled deflategate. Tom Brady smashed his phone: he must be guilty. They rode that narrative all the way to a suspension because that's all they had. He likely didn't want to hand over his phone to a leak prone clown show in NY. Probably figured after consulting with his lawyers that it would be a fine at worst for that ala Brett Favre. I bet he wishes he had someone wipe the phone properly and handed it over now, but they would of found another way to get the end result they wanted anyway.

I think if the Pats are 1 and done and the NFL waits until summer to release the punishment there's a chance they just fine them. If the pats knock off KC or the Ravens, god forbid, all bets are off.
