I think/hope that we're done at wr. I want a TE or an Oline (preferably a C who doesn't suck). They are hard to find. We have to roll with a couple of 1st round picks when they get back and I'm fine with that.

You can't have starting quality players at every position. But right now TE has none and Oline is playing with several who aren't.

Karras is playing really well. The problem is the LT and we already have one. IMO you don't waste draft or money on a position if you backup only give one sack and 3 pressures in 8 games.

are you saying that Karras sucks?

Because he certainly does not.

Then my bad because maybe it's just the snaps driving me crazy and the no holes up the middle but he isn't jumping out at me. And I realize he's a 2nd/3rd string guy but those are the positions that you need to shore up in trades. I know Newhouse is the worst on the line but we hopefully have an answer for that one.

Interior linemen seem to be tougher to grade on that. Do they take double-teams into consideration? And I know he's getting no fullback or TE help in the running game but there's no holes that he's creating by himself. Maybe it's just the snaps driving me insane.

The issue I have with Karras are his snaps.

Yep. In addition hes not as agile or athletic as Andrews which has hurt the run game some.

Hes bigger than Andrews and hasn't been a liability in pass protection.

Notes from Adam Schefter on 975 The Fanatic
Jets have been open to trading Robby Anderson. As of yesterday morning, the Jets had nothing percolating. Guesses he costs a 5th round pick.

Eagles have called around and been aggressive for DB’s but they haven’t found something they see fair. They’ve been looking more at CB than WR.

Believes there will be 11th hour pushes from teams to get OJ Howard, Trent Williams, Darius Slay and AJ Green.

No truth or movement on the Mike Evans rumors.

Eagles OL Halapoulivaati Vaitai has a realistic chance of being moved today. He’s a valued commodity and there have been teams that have been calling.

It will cost a team a lot in terms of draft pick compensation and a new contract for a team to trade for Lions CB Darius Slay.

BREAKING NEWS:
The New England Patriots have traded Cody Kessler to the New York Jets for Demaryius Thomas. Part of the deal includes Patriots supplying a dozen boogeymen t-shirts, but it is unclear why the Jete insisted on the t-shirts.

Can we have no fake news please? It's going to confuse an already easy to confuse Scrizz.

If that was the case we got fleeced.

I have a feeling the Jets are some team is going to trade for Howard partially to keep him from us.

At least the Patriots can still trade for Chris Conley if they can’t get Howard

I was thinking about the Seahawks trading for him.. Bucs might want to make this a bidding war

With snapping, Karras has Damien Woody syndrome. I am not sure if he is as good as Andrews when it comes to the making line adjustments.

Usually teams that suck aren't big players in trading for players at the deadline. It doesn't make any sense for them to do it. Careers are way to short in the NFL to do this.

Even better

Are you sure about that? For some reason I thought UDFA's are under control for only 3 years. I could be wrong of course.... it's happened. ;)

BTW- I get not wanting to lose Jackson. I don't either, but for me its a matter of market economics. We have an area of surplus, that they need, and they have a surplus at an area that we need. If I thought I could acquire Howard with a RB, or core special teamer, I'd do that. But Arians needs to be able to justify this trade to himself and his fan base. I don't think anonymous future draft picks will do the trick.

As to your questioning whether Howard is worth it, then OK. That judgement would always be a legit reason in my eyes. But if Howard can just block well, he'd be worth it to me for the package I mentioned. Maybe we should send Izzo and Tomlinson along with Jackson if that's what it took. ;)

Jackson is here through 2020, an RFA after that, and his largest cap hit is 660k. He's also #1 in the league for QBR when targeted. No way I give that up.

We need a EZ/RZ threat, OL & TE/FB 4 the running game start going...

Keep dreaming...

Even if that was possible, without a decent kicker in the decisive game could cost us the Big Prize!

Ghost maybe rusty, but he is one of the best around the league.

I just don't want to talk about Andrews...

So...

EZ/RZ N'Keal Harry? OL Wynn is that enough? TE Tomlinson?

Mike Nugent can he get it in the big stage? Karras being a "stud" at the play-offs?

In my opinion... in the SB we have to get our running game on point, just 1 great EZ/RZ threat & specially a reliable kicker. Maybe I'm wrong but the SB will be defined by details & the kicking game will be the decisive 4 us to win the SB.

Thanks for a touch of sanity in this thread. Today is mostly about January football and opportunities. Im interested how Bill evaluates running game (esp FB/HB position) & kicker -
and if he can do something about it today.

TE is secondary concern in that sense and real blocking/PP TE arguably more of a “need“ for Jan. Since Allen could be a cheap option later on I wouldn't sweat it today. OJH was one of my top draft binkies over the last years and Id be very happy to have him but he is not the key for January.

McD's passing O will be more or less as successful with or without OJH.
The keys are OL, HB, kicker.

Presuming Wynn and Mason are good to go in a couple of weeks OL could still use a proper backup swing tackle if the opportunity is there (fe Vaitai) but not likely.
