Who else would be in on Howard that’s a threat?
I’m trying to think of what team really needs him and I’m coming up blank.
It has to be us right.
He’s under contract for 2.5 seasons, not a half season rental. That means even the bad teams can be involved.

Among the contenders, Seattle seems to be the next most common team mentioned for tight ends.

Huge bummer

You guys crack me up trying to figure out who will be traded by tomorrow. Is it Howard or AJ, or maybe Trent, lol.

In the meantime Bill brings back Cody Kessler to fill the 53 man roster.

When will you learn, while you guys are playing marbles, Bill is playing:

* Thats a pic of a younger Bill and Saban during their days in Cleveland.

We need a EZ/RZ threat, OL & TE/FB 4 the running game start going...

Keep dreaming...

Even if that was possible, without a decent kicker in the decisive game could cost us the Big Prize!

Ghost maybe rusty, but he is one of the best around the league.

I just don't want to talk about Andrews...

So...

EZ/RZ N'Keal Harry? OL Wynn is that enough? TE Tomlinson?

Mike Nugent can he get it in the big stage? Karras being a "stud" at the play-offs?

In my opinion... in the SB we have to get our running game on point, just 1 great EZ/RZ threat & specially a reliable kicker. Maybe I'm wrong but the SB will be defined by details & the kicking game will be the decisive 4 us to win the SB.

Seattle & GB

Before this season... I felt Wynn would be better suited for G. However...he has played fantastic at LT. Could he play LG and be just as effective? I wouldn't doubt it. But playing LT at a high level like he has...it's Gold.
I always thought Matt Light would have been an all pro at LG instead of just a good but not great LT.

But I think that the kind of athleticism it takes to play guys like Bosa and Garrett is what BB was looking for when he took Wynn. So he's not the 6'7 320 lb long armed guy that has become the stereotype LT of the last decade, or even 5 years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if the uber-athletic smaller LT becomes the stereotype of the next generation of LT's.

Another example of BB setting the trend instead of following it. I see a great future for Wynn.

My concern is the healthy part.
And yet you're looking to trade a first and a fourth for someone who hasn't played a full season since 2013?

I better wake up tomorrow morning and see O.J. Howard is a Patriot.

I don't know X's and O's at all, but it seems like the two best receivers in Edelman and Sanu work out of the slot or do the short/intermediate stuff. So assuming only cap room for one good addition, I'd love to see an outside WR like AJ Green or invest in the O-line to give Brady more time.

A little morning juice would be nice.

The Cardinals and Browns might be in the bidding for Howard both looking to now and future... and possibly San Fran. on the outside.

Browns are 2-5. I don't see them giving up draft capital when they are unlikely to make the playoffs.

Cards at 3-4 might want in on Howard but they have two decent and cheap tight ends already in Charles Clay and Maxx Williams. Would Howard put them over the top? His production this year is barely better than those two.

San Fran has an all-pro TE in Kittles. I doubt they will want to give 'substantial' compensation Tampa Bay is looking for to tie up a 2nd string tight end.

So basically the biggest market for TE looks like New England. The only question is the compensation and will BB pull the trigger.

Remember, although Howard's athleticism is not in question, check out his combine numbers, you still have to wonder how quickly he can pick up the Patriots offense. And of course the other question -- how good of a blocker is he or is he just a glorified receiver lining up as TE because if that's the case, I don't see a fit.

Edit: Bad news. PFF rates OJ Howard as one of worst blocking tight ends in the NFL. Umm, maybe we're not getting him after all. Depends on BB's opinion of Howard.

If you believe even HALF of what is given in this report, then the risk is worth it.

I don't put much stock into reports that try to explain/excuse why someone is not getting on the field. The only fact is that despite all his talent and potential he is not used at all by the Bucs this year and didn't have any big year so far in his career on a NFL field. That shines brighter than anything people wrote about him years ago in a draft piece.

Note I am not saying he doesn't have talent and whatnot. To me what we have seen against in other pros in his first 2.5 years outweighs any projections or talk of potential severely. It has been 3 NFL camps for him so it doesn't matter much to me where he was drafted or anything before really. Even if Arians has no space for him as a target if he really were that good in blocking he'd play at least those snaps. Something is not right and even though a lot want to pretend it is just the Bucs being idiots I doubt that it is that easy.

And if it did matter I would wonder why Howard seemed to have exactly the same issues in college where Alabama under Saban refused too go to him much.

And if you believe just half of what was in that report you have to ask the 2 questions, WHY hasn't he lived up to the potential? And is it HIS fault? If Saban confirmed to BB his potential, than I'd contend that the QB was a problem and now the TE averse HC isn't helping either.

Who knows. I am sure BB talked Howard extensively with Saban through the draft process and knows all there is to know about him. I somehow considerably doubt that everything about the Bucs situation is someone else's fault. Why does everyone automatically assume that every player is hard working and absolutely committed.

Has Williams given you a SINGLE reason to believe that he couldn't be a productive part of this secondary from what he's shown during preseason AND in his few brief chances so far?

Jackson and Williams are completely different players filling different roles. Just look at their body type and the resulting differences in speed. Taking JC Jackson away just removes flexibility when we play against teams with quick and shifty receivers (e.g. Chiefs).

I would not give up Jackson straight for Howard and it would take a e.g. 3rd from the Bucs in ADDITION to Howard for me to even start considering this. Jackson is too valuable and there is not much replacement for his skillset on our roster. It is really him and JJones.

As I said before the highest I go with Howard if early picks are the expectation is swapping our first with their second and then some day 3 pick to sweeten the deal. And that is not because of his "potential" but because of his cost controlled rookie deal.
