Gordon to IR

I love Edelman but the dude is playing through an injury. He is gutting it out and still being his producive self but he doesn't look at his best right now. I don't necessarily think he is going to be out there destroying single coverage when he looks like he is 60-70%.
the talk in the media is trying to say Edelman who is aging another year older is not the receiver he was with all the drops this year, what they forget to mention is that his ribs are probably so sore and busted up that is probably is near impossible to stretch for a ball sideways and laterally like he normally does - rib injuries can limit you in a big way even if it doesnt keep you from playing

I guess the people who called him to IR were actually right after all even if in a weird way.

I was one of the ones who thought he might end up on IR, just because of how banged up he looked on the field and the urgency of looking for a WR in trade despite Harry practicing. Obviously if Gordon were fully healthy, he's better than a rookie, but the writing seemed to be on the wall. I didn't quite understand why people were so against the idea.

Useless is a strong word. “Not productive” is more apt considering his talent level.

Dude could not get open on his own. Kinda sad that Gordon wasted his career with his BS.

Gordon could have been a great NFL WR.

Weird situation. You'd think they trade him if this is not IR serious.

Sucks for Gordon hope he catches on somewhere else if just for his own sanity's sake.

If he was hurt enough to be placed on IR at this time, he wouldn't pass a physical. Can't trade damaged goods, even if the player believes they'll be healthy soon.

Something doesn't make sense. He was out on the practice field today. Can't be that serious. If anything, it seems as though he was on a path to return after the bye. Why put him on IR? I don't get it.

I personally believe there is something more than just a banged up knee. Why let a guy like him walk. Just doesn't make sense.

Dorsett's problem to me is that he's got about 10 YAC all year. Dude's like Lafell used to be, it's like could you run with the ball for me one time?

I’ve noticed this as well. He puts so much of his body into securing a catch, he’s not able to turn quickly to run for more yards.

I can see it now, “Bill, what happened with Gordon ?” Bill- “I only talk about the players that are here.”

Well, at least Gordon got a ring, good for him.

The ring will be in a pawn shop within 12 months.

He's good for a few solid catches a game and some TD's. Solid #3 guy, little more. Glad we got Sanu to be #2.

I liked him and wanted him to succeed, but he wasn’t producing and couldn’t get open for TB12. Edelman, Sanu, Dorsett, Harry and Meyers is solid. It may not WOW the media, but that’s a dang solid group of receivers. Especially if Harry comes in and makes any kind of an impact. Wish Gordon the best.

This has been going on forever. Posters think they have all the info. For crying out loud : most players in that locker don’t have all the info.

BB, because he doesn’t believe in insulting players on the way out, will be quiet on this. Players know he won’t throw them under the bus. It’s been like this for decades.

Management made an informed decision. We might never know why. They are the 7-0 defending SB champs.

Glad the Celtics are on in an hour so I can put this out of my mind for a bit.

Dorsett as a #3 is still a stretch

I was against it because we have all the time in the world to nurse him up. The postseason is almost a given already. Keep him inactive on the roster.

But I think they never were fully satisfied with him in the first place beyond the injury.

Although if that is the case why trade DT and not Gordon. Ah well bad timing on that I guess.

True but with our receiving group he is the third best we have right now. Thank goodness he isn't being asked to be #2.

So whatever is left of his prorated salary now is worth losing a potential comp pick over.

BB knows best.

I wonder if Gordon will catch on after this year with someone else.

In any cause seeing as how he is no longer part of their future plans it shows how important it was for them to get a reliable #2 WR like Sanu. Hopefully Harry can contribute this year and be an impact guy by playoff time.

I mean, hes on a pace for 45 catches/ 600yds and 1/2 a dozen TDs. Thats decent.

...but hes not JE, Sanu and I don't think he has the talent of Harry or has the ceiling of Meyers.
